Update on FBIL and 'not having children at the wedding' issue. IT'S WORSE THAN EVER!

Update on FBIL and 'not having children at the wedding' issue. IT'S WORSE THAN EVER!

Now my FBIL tells me that if I cared about his children they would be at the wedding...but since I'm never involved in his children's lives I just don't give a cr@p about them. (FI and I are NEVER invited over, I've offered to babysit for them numerous times because I don't get to see the children...they won't take us up on it).

This is just unbelievable...he then tells me that he's NEVER heard of having a wedding without children...that it must be a Polish thing (I'm polish, german and irish).

He just kept going on and on how everyone in his family including his mother is furious with me for doing this. (His wife now refuses to come to my bridal shower because of this drama).

I call my FMIL and she said that's not the case at all...that she's not upset with me in the least and she's shocked he said that.

This guy is the most rotten human being I've ever met.

OMG what a jerk......I bet he never thought you'd call his bluff and talk to your FMIL about it!

If they're going to have a hissy fit over this, then they're being the idiots and they are making themselves look silly by acting this way.

You're a strong woman... I'm sure I would've caved in to their ridiculous 'demands' by now. Good for you! Stay strong!

Stick to your decisions. Not for nothing, it's your & your FI's wedding- not theirs!
A BIG part of my day was ruined for me b/c my family thought my wedding was about them! I'm trying to airbrush a kid out of a picture- he's not in the BP- but apparently, my Aunt didn't want him to feel left out & told him to jump in! Don't sweat the small stuff-you'll look back and wonder why you got yourself all upset!?

I can't believe what a child FBIL is acting like Maybe he shouldn't be allowed at the wedding too!!! He can't find a babysitter for one friggen night

I agree with the girls. ITS YOUR WEDDING! Some people are such jerks! If you don't want kids than do what you want!

WTF!!!! I'm offended on behalf of all Polish people! What does being Polish have anything to do with having children at a wedding It's your wedding and you do what you want!

I'm getting married in August and my sister just had a baby in April. She asked me not to have him at the wedding because she wants to have a good time. And my best friend feel the same way. tell him to get over it and get a babtsitter.

I'm Polish..what the heck does having children at a wedding have anything to do with it.

It's the bride and groom's day and their decision who to invite. I am sorry you have to go through this!

KAthy, what does FH say about this? I would let him put his brother into his place... YOu have plenty to worry about.. and if they keep making such a stink than DON'T COME>

How ridiculous!!! I can't understand how someone would think that because a CHILD is not invited to a very elegant, expensive, and STRUCTURED event, that the child is not loved. I mean really! Sometimes I think that people get jealous because someone else will have the spotlight for ONE DAY!

I'm going to slightly play devils advocate here. While he is completely in the wrong in demanding that you do anything, is your DH close with his brother? I had my nieces and nephews at our wedding, I wouldn't have dreamt otherwise, but that was only 4 kids, all 6 and above. Are you having a flowergirl/ring bearer?

I'm just asking little questions that may help make the picture clearer...I am NOT saying you are wrong at all. It's totally the discretion of the bride and groom to have children or not.

And that Polish comment should have earned him a kick in the arse.
