Update on my FMIL...I felt I should share b/c all of you have been so supportive!

She was doing terrible and we brought her to Sloan's emergency dept on Saturday- they kept her only 2 hours- they gave her sodium and morphine drip and then asked her to drink something..since she held that down they released her!

FH and I thought it was crazy but felt it was wrong to question the doctors. She's been forcing herself to eat and today she began throwing everything up again (2 days later).

I'm so scared - plus we don't know what to do because the doctors didn't do a thing when we told them how bad she is.

Is this the end? I feel like her body is dying and doesn't need food.

What should I do? I'm so young and have no experience with stuff like this- I just want to do the right thing here.

I am sorry to hear that... you all will be in my prayers. I hope that she is not in any pain either. Just keep spending what time you can with her to make her smile.

I agree - just spend whatever time you can with her. I am so soooo sorry to hear about how she's doing You, your FMIL and her family are all in my thoughts & prayers

I am so sorry to hear that she is not doing well. Please spend every minute you can with her. Nobody can tell you really if it is the end or not. God has a time he has chosen for her. You and your family are in my prayers.

Have you guys put a call in to her Oncologist? I hope there is something they can do to make her more comfortable.

I would definetly give your FMIL's doctor a call and see what he says. You also may want to pick up some gatorade or ensure for her. I will keep you & your family in my prayers and remember that we are all here for you if you need us.

I was going to suggest the same thing. Maybe they can give her something to help her eat/feel better.
Have you tried giving her the ensure drinks?

Well, you know you and your family are in our prayers!!!
I definitely would call the doctor and set up an appointment for her!

I went through the same thing with my mom last year, spend as much time with her as you can. Try to keep her spririts up the best that you can. I know this is not an easy thing to do. Also let her know how much you love her and what she means to all of you. If you ever need to talk FM me anytime.

Sweetie, I am so sorry that you, FH and family are dealing with this. It is never easy to see a close loved one suffer. Like the other girls have said, spend as much time with her as you can. Be there for FH. Tell her how much you love her and cherish all of the time that you have spent together. It may be the end, or it may not. We never really know... so, I would make sure she knows how much she is loved and adored by her family. Talk to the doctors about making her as comfortable as possible.

I'm so sorry you, and your FH are going through this..... lots of prayers for her...
have you gotten a second opinion?? are the current docs doing enough?? i once saw a show where just the attitude of the doctors made such a difference in their patients.. more upbeat/encouraging docs yielded improvements in their patients.... i hope she gets better really soon

We took her to Sloan on Saturday and my fsil and fh are taking her back in the morning. We're so scared they'll admit her and she won't come home. She is crying and I think she's tired of all of this.

I don't have any experience with this sort of thing (for which I am very thankful), so I don't know what 'the end' looks like, but I do know that deep down beyond all the sickness your FMIL is feeling, she fees deeply, deeply loved by her son, you, and the rest of her family. She is so lucky to have you all by her side, and as hard as it is to watch her suffer like this, always know that you are doing a beautiful and brave thing.

So sorry for you and your family- hang in there, make her as comfortable as possible, and just be there for FH.

We went through this with my grandfather in December- its hard not knowing whats going to happen and what everything means.

Maybe you could contact the Hospice? I know they helped my grandmother a bit- she was able to better understand whats going on.
