Well, I posted a few weeks ago about my invitation wording issue because of divorced parents and the egos of people being mentioned/not mentioned and i have finally setlled. Its going to be one busy invitation but i think this is how its got to be. anyone else who is creative, please share suggestions!
Mr. and Mrs. Brides dad and stepmom request the honour of your presence at the marriage of his daughter
Tanielle5k also daughter of Mrs. Brides mom
to
FH son of Mr. and Mrs. FH's parents
blahblahblah chruch date and time
Mr. & Mrs. Brides dad and stepmom and Mrs. Brides mom
request the honor of your presence at the marriage of their daughter...
Tanielle5k to FH Son of Mr & Mrs. FH's parents.
Even if you Dad is paying for your wedding you mom should be right under him. Doing it the other way seems to really point out that your Dad is the only one paying for your wedding.

Re: Update on my invitation wording issue
I'm so sorry the parents are acting like children :( I think its TERRIBLE you have to deal with this with all the other stresses going on.
My dad is divorced, remarried....but I am not putting the stepmom on the invite (not close to her at all). My mom would have been devastated if she were listed separately...
can you do a simple 'the parents of (bride) and (groom) request the honor of your presence...etc...
??

Re: Update on my invitation wording issue
Just reread what you said..
Ok this is how i would do it, like previous poster stated:
Mr. & Mrs. Brides dad and stepmom Mrs. Brides mom
request the honor of your presence at the marriage of their daughter...
I just omitted the 'and' separating the parents. Have your moms name directly under your dads....my invite will read:
Mr. Charles Smith Ms. Marianne Smith
request the honor....
Hope this helps. And i HOPE people grow up for your sake!!

Re: Update on my invitation wording issue
I'm guessing that they wouldn't go for
The families of Bride and Groom...request the honor of your presence...blah blah blah...
rather than listing everyone out??? Just a suggestion. Sorry if it's far fetched...

Re: Update on my invitation wording issue
All I can say is that with wedding planning, you can't please everyone.
While I can understand and totally respect your decision to try to make most people happy, the bottom line is YOU and your FH need to be happy!
If you want 'together with your parents' then do that. If they give you heck for it, they'll get over it. This day is about YOU! Not about them and their issues.
Hang in there!
Chin up!

Re: Update on my invitation wording issue
I thought that the names on the invitation were the names of those hosting the event, not the person who is paying. Also, I think that ettiquette wise your mom's name goes first.
I am doing:
Ms.....(my mom) and Mr. and Mrs. (my dad and stepmom) request the honour of your presence...
