Ok girls so the saga continues!.. We finally got a hold of St. Joes and the deacon called be rather quickly.. i made my confirmation there and they were telling FH that my family and i are not members due to us being out of their jurisdiction but thats a whole other story.. so anyway.. we have a meeting set up for Nov. 10 to meet with the deacon hopefully it will be a much more positive experience and they will be able to marry us!!! im actualyl excited to go there and should have gone with my gut and just went there first!!
Thanks for all the help girls!
just a quick ?... were supposed to have another meeting with the old church on Nov. 3.. we were supposed to be going to church for the past 2 sat. and have not gone due to the fact i really dont want to be a part of their parish... and the fact that FH has no desire to go.. so heres my ?... How do we back out of getting married there after signing papers? and i have his prayer book and some other stuff i was supposed to return on the 3rd. FMIL is very involved and would be willing to return the books is that proper? i just think if i see his face ill say something i'll regret. What do i do?
THANKS!

Re: Update to my church saga! (kinda long)
Well first, I am glad that it is looking good for St. Joes. They have your date available, right?
Secondly. I would go to the old church and bring back their things and just nicely tell them that you decided to go another way for your ceremony. You don't want to lie, but you don't have to tell the whole truth either. Good luck and keep us posted

Call the rectory and explain to the receptionist there that you need to cancel your appt for the 3rd and that you've decided to go in another direction with your wedding. You will return all of the materials that you were given by either dropping them off at the rectory or mailing them in. If she asks questions, let her know that you'd rather not get into it. Usually the receptions at the rectory are very on top of things, so doing it this way shouldn't be a problem.
I love St. Joe's in Babylon! I went in there for the first time on Ash Wed and it's BEAUTIFUL!!!! It's not hard to become a memeber of a parish... all you really need to do it fill out paper work and submit copies of your certificate of Sacraments (proof of Baptism, Communion, Confirmation, Reconciliation... from the church where you recieved all of your sacraments)... FH and I had to do this.
