UPDATE!!!! WE FINALLY FOUND A CHALKBOARD!!! Does anyone know where we can find an old fashioned chalkboard?
We have tried Micheals, Staples, Lowes, Home Depot, Target, and Toys R Us. We never thought it would be this hard to find one!
ETS: We finally found a chalkboard at the Pottery Barn Outlet in Riverhead. FI took the frame off and built a beautful mahagony frame around the board and hung it up in our kitchen. It looks awesome!

what do you need it for? You may be able to make one in the size you need.

Try Peter Andrews in East Williston. I think I saw them over there, and they have some pretty neat stuff.

FI wants to a chalkboard for our wood door in the kitchen. I looked at Pottery Barn, they want $50! I think that is too much $$$.
Buttafli1277, does Peter Andrews have a website? I live on the East End of LI. East Williston is that in Nassau?

I have the pottery barn one and its a really nice solid frame that the chalkboard is in. The $50 is pretty reasonable considering how much just the frame would be worth.
If you already have a frame in mind or have seen one, you can make your own using slate or using that spray on chalkboard paint.

Sonicstef, FI wants just the board pretty much. He want to build maghany (spelling??) frame around it. Thanks for the info, I appreciate it.
maria96, I just called FI and we are going to check the Home Goods store on 347, thanks so much!
Re: Does anyone know where we can find an old fashioned chalkboard?
how about a teaching supply store...like LL Weans?
there is a Peter Andrews in Huntington as well...
there are also chalkboard shelves at Ballard Designs...but I don't think that is what you are looking for...
to make it yourself...there is a paint that makes certain things into chalkboard services...

I was just in Restoration Hardware and they had a cheese board that was a black board (I thought it was weird for cheese but whatever)
It wasn't that big but it was 24.99

Peter Andrews is in Nassau, and I'm not too sure if they have a website. As far as Home Goods, my MIL has started getting me hooked on that place. They have some pretty neat things there!
