update-went to Antuns Queens Village...

SO FH made the appt at Antun's & we went saturday. The people were really nice; but not my style for a wedding; and their 'outside garden' was about the size of the grass in the front of my attached house (no offense just being honest).

The only reason why I'm posting here; is because i thought their prices were outrageous!! There is no real cocktail hour; well for an hour before the reception they roll a buffet table onto the dance floor and you can choose 7 (i think) choices; then after the hour is over the clear the food for the BP entrance. No seperate room; no passed appetizers. And for a 4 hour reception with an alochol upgrade from Absolute to Grey Goose and for $7 a chair cover and an upgrade from 2 entree choices to 3; it came out to $94.95pp!! My jaw droped i seriosly thought they were going to tell me like $54pp or something. are you serious?? For $94.95 you can go to Westbury manor; chateau briand; jericho terrace. I just don't understand how they're price point is so high.

Sorry-just had to vent; i could not believe their prices. I think it's a great place for a luncheon or a bridal shower; but not for a wedding at those prices!

I agree!! i've been seeing alot of commercials lately and I assumed, like you, it would be around $60pp. Over 90 is crazy!!

Wow! ITA!

I always laugh at that little postage stamp outdoor area they show you in the back, but I thought it would be a great place for a bride on a budget...apparently not!

was it because it was a November wedding? I really dont get it.. Im highly upset with you..

I have no idea; and that was for a Saturday Day time! The basic package was $62.95pp; then we had to add an extra $7 for chair covers; b/c the basic chairs would not do; and then another $18 for the upgraded drink package and then like another $7 dollars pp to do the 3 entree choice.

So i guess if you took their basic package w/out chair covers; basic drinks; and only 2 entree choices it's $62.95. But still-you can get that at some of the other halls on a sunday depending on the season.

And they made sure to say how they 'include centerpieces' but when i saw them it was just a small bud vase with carnations...no comment.

they are hiliarious.. they really are. they have good Caribbean food but I can always get that @ home for FREE!

I went to a wedding there is September and I assumed they spent about $50 pp. I am mad at the bride and groom for spending that much for a wedding there.

i dont know the place you're talking about but according to your description, that price is insane!!!

by the way, you should look into getting your chair covers and/or linens through a diff company (not your RH) ... you can probably find chair covers for around $3 each

Antuns!?!? For reals??? @ That price!!!

Noooo way!!! Wow -- I go to church in that area and we always used to crack jokes on Antuns -- and yeah they're 'backyard' area is about the size of a front yard in Queens Village -- maybe even smaller. . .

One of my engaged friends dragged me to some Bridal Show last year at Antun's in Queens Village. OMG. those prices are much too high. The parking lot is much too small and while the rooms appear cozy and well-maintained, I just don't think the exterior or the area the RH is in justifies those prices!!!
