Updated 1st Post! Picked 2! Poll: Which Dress? Follow-up to Dress Disaster

Original post by sparklycat

Update:
Thank you all for voting and all your support! I saw the Michelle Roth and Demetrios were neck and neck.

I was agonizing over paying so much to alter the Michelle Roth and then worrying if they could finish it properly in time, so my fiance offered to look at it to ruin the surprise. He was wowed by it and understood why I was so torn. He said that he knows that I'd be able to sell it for a good amount and if I really loved the new dress to go for it.

So I looked at the Demetios mermaid again, loved it, paid for it and got pinned. Since I was out in LI already, I brought the Michelle Roth to Phyllis at Bridal Elegance to see what she'd say. So I was floored when she told me $300 expecting her to say $800+. She said it wasn't easy, but it was nothing she hasn't seen or done before and she could not believe that someone actually told me it'd be over $1000. So my original seamstress either was ripping me off or just didn't want to do the work-- that woman made me a basketcase for a few days

I was totally confused, but I had already paid for the new dress. In the end, I decided to stop making myself so crazy over all this. So I have a new more form fitting mermaid that will celebrate the weight I've lost and it will look fab

If anyone wants to buy a brand new truly elegant, ivory silk Michelle Roth size 8, let me know.

Thank you all so much for listening and understanding how crazy it is sometimes to be a bride! Honestly, I'm not normally like this

Hi Girls!

So now I have to figure this out fast with 22 days to go and I hope you all vote asap.

The dresses are much more sparkly in person, the stock photos don't always show them in the best light. Help me decide! I'm leaning towards the last 2 cause I've lost weight and they are more form fitting.

1) My original Michelle Roth. It will cost alot to alter it and it can be done in time barely, but it will cost me and I'm worried about rushing it. So much that I can buy the following 2 dresses for about the same amount or a little more.

2) Demetrios 9668. Can buy sample, will need to be taken in 3 sizes, but supposedly seams are easy to do, hem is fine, and detachable train so don't have to worry about bustle. I actually loved this dress when I tried it on even though it was big, but I haven't seen it in a while.

3) Tried on Casablanca 1820 at RK bridal today. I'm not into lace in general, but loved the fit, it made my waist look tiny. It will only need a bustle. A little less than the Demetrios, also worried that lace can get pulled easily.

Thank you so much everyone! I'm going to see the Demetrios again on Sat, so I have to decide!

Taking into consideration your post I went with 2
its more like 1 (your original) and seems it will work our better and less stressful than altering 1...3 is a totally diff style but also beautiful..good luck!

I agree. I would probably buy # 2 as it is most like your dress and not worry about the stress of altering the original and worrying about what it might do to the dress. However, if you really are in love with your originial dress then I would go for the alterations.
