Updated!! NWR: Feeling pretty sad

11/3 Updated:

So I took the chicken way out and sent him a text. And you ladies were right he didn't see my message till he got my text. Basically he told me life has been crazy but I should know better that he wouldnt stop talking to me or hold something like that against me So we spoke a little bit, and we are OK. I dont know wheter to jump up and down or cry or both. I feel so relieved. We are going to get together one Saturday when our schedules allow. And I have his address and I told him I couldnt get married witout him there, and then he called me cheesy!! Ahhh I can't wait to tell FH. I am so happy. Thank you ladies!!!!

--------------

This belongs on our FB but since my computer does not play nice with FB it take 50 years for anyhting to load and respond. This may be long winded and a jumble of thoughts but if you can get through it, you deserve a medal. LoL

So I'm bummed. I have (at least I hope I have) a friend that I have known since the start of senior year of HS. Since th day we met we were tighter than tight. I met him at a friend of a friend's party upstate (leaving us about an hour & a 1.2 away from each other) We talked all the time on the phone, we wrote letter, emails, whatever we could. He came to visit me several times over the years. He truly was my bestest bested friend ever. My family aodres him and he was the only guy that was allowed to stay at my house overnight (that got complicated as we got older lol) It was like we were dating without the title, we were perfect together but for 2 HS kids that distance was tough. Then he dropped the bomb that he was going into the military. I cried and cried. I think I still have all his letters from when he was in boot camp and overseas. As time passed whatever bf/gf relationship we had took a back seat as we started to date other people but our friendship NEVER faded. He came to my sorority formals, still came to vist, etc. My bf's over the years were always very jealous of him and put the stipulation that we can't talk and if we do they wanted to know every details. Stupid me let the bf's think that but I was determined not to lose the friendship.

Over the past few years, when the relationship with my last bf was ending (in that relationship that bf was abusive/controlling and forced me away from everyone that I loved) my relationship with my best friend was slowly dying. Not a day goes by when I dont think of him. This past birthday when I didn't get a call, text, fb message I was hurt. He was always the person that made sure he was the first one to wish me a happy birthday. i would get calls at midnight from him just so he knew he would be the first. Over the past few months I have reached out (on fb mostly) getting no response back. With my wedding coming up I want him there, tho I never pictured me getting married I alway knew that if I was he HAD to be there,m as my man of honor. I know it wont bethe same now but it would mean the workd to me to have him there. I just sent him a long FB message admitting to being a sh*tty friend and apologizing. I told him I missed him. And then basically left it up to him that if he didn't respond I would get the message.

I'm sitting here in tears, I'm afraid I will never hear from him again. I'm afraid for the smack of reality. I'm afraid to have to say goodbye to a friendship that meant the world to me. He was my rock when I needed him. There is so much more I could say about our friendship but then this might really turn into a novel. I get a positive response.

And sorry for the spelling erros, I can't go back and read this, I'm trying to keep my the waterworks to a minimum.

Awww there are times that stuff things like that happen. After junior high I barely talked to my two MOH's. I think we had a good 8 years of not really talking to each other, but once we got to talking again everything was back to normal. As we grow older we get over the not being a good friend because stuff happens where we can't be there for each other. Maybe your friend doesn't check facebook often. Can you contact via email or phone?

why did the relationship die down? What actually happened? That is so sad & I hope he writes you back. He seems to really have a place in your heart

I say call him, he might not check his facebook. Even if he does, he might be one of those that doesn't check the messages. I no longer get those emails saying 'you have a message' like I used to from FB.

Call him and leave a message, unless you don't know his phone number. See if you can get it from someone. If he doesn't call back then you have to let it go.

What does your FH think?

Call him!!! Something so important should be talked about.

I do hope that you hear back from your friend.

It's so terrible when things like this happen in life! I've too felt losses similar to your situation, but everyone deals with it in their own way. If you're feeling as bad as you say, I'd definitely reach out and call...You don't really have anything to lose! Just mentally prepare yourself for whatever outcome. You don't want to put any high expectations on it because it could hurt you even worse in the end (I've sort of had experience with that).

The only thing I've learned is unfortunately we go through stages in life and sometimes we lose things, but also gain (like your FH of course)! The best thing is you can look back on your friendship with him and think about all the wonderful things you shared

Hope everything works out for you!

Re: NWR: Feeling pretty sad

Thanks ladies. I know I should call, I will give it a few days. I'm afraid to make the call.

And, there was nothing that happened bw us, I think it was me, that I distanced myself bc of a crazy ex boyfriend of mine. Part of me wonders if this ex had words with him after the breakup. My ex tried to ruin any relationship I had with any, told lies about me, etc.

And my FH is supportive, he doesnt know how I felt today, he came home from work in such a good mood, I didn't want to ruin it.

Sighhhhhhhh

this just broke my heart, CALL HIM!!! You guys can fix this, he's prob just hurt if you call and actually talk to him i'm sure you can fix anything. people always tend to grow apart at times but you can always fix something like this.

and 'if' worse case at least you can always know you tried everything to fix it in the end.

Re: NWR: Feeling pretty sad

i'm sorry.
it may be nothing against you personally, but just like you moved forwad with your life, so may have he. He could have found a wonderful girl to love who may not want him to keep such a close relationship with another girl.
younever know...things happen in life where 'life' just gets in the way and makes it more difficult to maintain a friendship
