UPDATED: On pins & needles

Original post by futuremrsfab

Over the weekend, we finally found a place that we love and we put an offer in yesterday- the owner is supposed to call me and FH back today- I am sooo nervous!

*UPDATE*

The owner is selling without an agent- so we figured, they would be more willing to deal- well No!

The owner called me at lunch and their counter-offer was a lousy $10k off the overpriced asking price- and they said thats as low as they go- so I spoke to FH and we decided that we will make an offer on our second choice.

I think in this market, we should be able to get a much better price than what the first owner was offering.

i think when the owner's are selling w/out an agent, they really feel they can get more than what an agent can get them, which is crazy! i was reading an article about a homeowner in old westbury (i believe that's where she was), and her house was on the market for like 3 months, then she dropped her broker, and decided to sell the house on her own, and raised the asking price!!! if people didn't bite when it was a lower price, esp in this market, what makes you think you'll be better at selling it on your own? sounds like a greedy homeowner to me.

better luck with the next house!! it'll work out when it's def the right house for you.

amazing! why would you raise the price- people are so greedy!

They need to be realistic...especially if they've been trying to sell it for a while. The cost of operating their house is more in the long run so they really aren't making $$.

you'll be surprised what ppl are still asking even in this market...i think all we hear is its a buyers market so we see it as an advantage which it should be...i'll be honest, its really not a buyers market right now...i bought 4 years ago and it was so much easier and better, right now you deal with alot of BS.

many home owners will still want to get a certain amount for their house no matter what and many times its not even worth what they want. In the end they will probably just screw themselves over. That happened recently to friends of ours...they said they put an offer on a house, the couple said no and even for a few thousand dollars they didnt care to negotiate. Well they got another offer from another couple, somehow the whole thing fell through and the couple didnt get the mortgage...what homeowners dont realize is that with the way the market is, its alot harder to get a mortgage so it takes longer many times now for the process or couples just wont get approved. Anyways the real estate agent now calls our friends ALL the time to try and get them to put in another offer, now the couple is will to negotiate, obviously bc they were greedy at first and are now desperate to sell. Our friends just say no and have no more interest but they still call

everything happens for a reason and for whatever reason that house wasn't meant for you...sometimes when these things happen its a blessing in disguise...good luck with the 2nd offer youre making on a house
