Updated!!! Please help! What should I do?

My DH and are are ready to TTC in a few months and I just went off BC. I made an appt. with my OBGYN for a check up and to ask questions about TTC.

Well, at work yesterday, someone asked who I go to and I told him Dr. XXXXX. Well, one older woman yelled across the lunch table 'never go to him!' She told me that he has several malpractice lawsuits against him and her friend is one of them. She didn't get into details about her friend's lawsuit but also had told me that Dr. XXXXX said something to her like 'it's because you are a minority'. Well, I dont' know what context he was using that term in or if he really said that at all. This woman does have a tendency to always want to seem right and smart and she is very annoying.

The conversation continued with other people telling me that they know other dr.s in their practices have been sued and they dont' care.

My Dr. does not deliver anymore (he's much older) and he would not be the one to deliver my baby. The woman who told me all this said that he's not allowed to deliver anymore because of there lawsuits and that all the dr.s in his office tried to get out of the practice with him.

I have been going to him for a few years and like him and the way his office treats me.

Knowing all of this would you go to him? My appt. is this tuesday! I wanted this appt to be a happy and exciting one and now I feel it's turned into complete stress!

UPDATE:

I did a search as suggested by rachel and princess99 but came up with nothing! His name is not listed anywhere! Does this mean he's fine? No lawsuits?

I really hope so!

Since you are so comfortable with the office, I would ask the dr about what your co-worker said.

The only thing that would make me nervous is that since he's older he doesn't feel comfortable delivering. I'd prefer the doctor who is delivering being the one who I went to for the whole process. Does he have a younger partner you can go to?

If you go to the new york state board of education, you can look up a doctor and any lawsuits brought against this or anyone in their practice. Then you will know for sure. I wouldn't go to a doctor without checking this, anyway.

Here's the link.....

ETA: I'd like to add that you can get every ounce of information on this site. I looked up a doctor and was able to read ALL of the letters sent to him by the Board of Physicians and was able to read the letter where they revoked his lisence to practice medicine
