Thank you for all your well wishes! I realized in the middle of the night that I had another lump on the OTHER armpit....So went to the doctor this morning and I do indeed have an infection as he confirmed that it is my lymph nodes that are swollen.
I got a Z-Pac and he told me to come back in next week if they are still swollen. '

its probably from shaving. i get them all the time. i freaked out when i 1st got it ..went to the doc. it was exactly that...from shaving!

Try not to trust what you read on the internet. It always scares the crap out of me, too! Just try to relax and see what the doctor says.

Aww--don't worry! I freak out about things like that too. You could also develop lumps at certain times of the month--I think right around your period. You could maybe be coming dwon with something too and its a swollen gland. I have had them before and it turned out to be one of those reasons. Have fun dress shopping and don't worry!

Thanks everyone....I really hope its from shaving or something else too--- it actually really hurts more than anything so its really just annoying....glad you guys can do the 'pick me up' just as good as FH does . Thank you

OMG the same thing happened to me about 5 years ago, during the summer months. I asked my doctor about it and he said it was my hormones causing it. He said if it got really bad, it could mean there was mucus and god knows what accumulating inside it and that it would require lancing!
He advised me to just put bags of ice under my armpits every day and to lie down on a bed or a couch with arms over my head while the ice packs rest on the lump(s).
The lumps ended up going away by the end of the week! I'd try it and just see if that works!

Its probably a skin tag. They're super common in the armpit area. I have had like 2 before. Don't listen to the internet! It will make you more paranoid than you need to be!

I get them too after I shave. In fact, I have one right now.
I also get infected hair follicles that can turn into cystic acne or even a boil. Gross I know! I only use Dial antibacterial soap/body wash and that has helped TREMENDOUSLY!
When I went to the DR, she immediately asked me if I was Italian, which I am. She said it's common with Italians.
Hopefully this is what it is. Keeping you in my thoughts!

It's probably nothing to worry about, but if you are super concerned you should see your PCP or something. My dermo once told me that if a bump hurts, it's usually just an inflamed cyst or something.

My roommate had them too... they went away with antibiotics. Don't worry, I'm sure it's nothing, just make sure you go to the MD
Take some Motrin or Advil in the meantime and try not to worry about it.

That's what I think. I've gotten them before. They do hurt a lot. I hate them!! Just take lots of hot showers, DON'T SHAVE for a few days or even a week (hey at least it's winter) til it goes away.

my cousins a doctor and i called her up with teh same thing freakin out one day she just told me its a swollen lymph node basiucally nothing.... just the same way that other lymph nodes get swollen like in your throat

I used to get swollen pink lumps in my armpit that were sore and the doctor said it was from caffeine. But I hear ya, they hurt!!
