well, my mother and father just got into a financial problem and now they cant afford my RH. my parents were going to pay for everything because my FH's parents dont have the money to do so. they are older and retired too. im like soo upset! i got my wedding dress on layaway, and my shoes, veil, ect. i dont even think i can pay it off now! and my BMs already purchased their dresses! i have no idea what im going to do. i wish i had money and was financially stable to be able to afford my own wedding instead of relying on other ppl because things like this happen. we already out a deposit which is non refundable on the hall. im really bugging the hell out, and i just found out litterally about 3 mins ago. my dad told me to just go to the court and get married like that! ***! i want to get married the right way. not in a court room! ughhhh
so here is the update: my aunt and uncle told me that they would pay for half of the cost, and my brother will pay the other half. but i told my aunt and uncle i would pay them back. so id rather do payments with them, than taking out a loan! so im just really relieved now and im ready to get married in august! yay...thanks for all of your support and great advise, i soooo appreciate it girls!

Re: we might have to canel the wedding!
maybe take out a loan from your bank? the other thing to do is to talk with your vendors and see if you could postpone it. they may be able to work with you if you still use them in the end, regardless of when your date is.

Re: we might have to canel the wedding!
this is awful news Is there anyway one of you could get an extra job to help pay for the wedding or to cutback on unnecessary expenses? There are always ways to cutback in weddings! Its just such a shame that you worked so hard for all of this to give it all up! I really hope you both can think of a way to make it work. Im so sorry your in this situation

Re: we might have to canel the wedding!
I'm so sorry to hear of your difficulties.Having so few months til the wedding doesn't give you many options to keep it on track. But if you haven't sent out invitations yet perhaps you could scale back on the size. The less guests, the less you need to pay for the RH and I'm sure people would understand why you would have a smaller wedding. It's probably not possible but it wouldn't hurt to try talking to the RH to see if you could pay a portion after the wedding in monthly installments. If you explain your situation they may just be sympathetic and agree. I wish you lots of luck and hope you have a happy ending.

There's always a way to get what you want. Get second, even third jobs, pinch every penny - it may be awful for a while, but it will be worth it in the end. I'm sorry you have to go through this and hope it all works out for you

I'm sorry to hear about that! Don't take out a loan, though, it's really foolish to go into debt for a wedding. IMHO. There are a few options: postpone the wedding. Scale back the wedding (you r guests will understand.) Work second and third jos to pay for it. That's difficult, too, as you'd have no time for wedding palnning, and you don't have much time left anyway. Can you talk to your relatives and see if anyone else can contribute? Say, by giving you the money they would have after the wedding now?
Good Luck!

I'm so sorry to hear this.
However, DO NOT go into debt to pay for your wedding. If you can't afford to save enough for it in the first place, you can't afford loan payments. Starting out married life with unnecessary debt and financial constraints is not healthy.
Others have offered suggestions -- push the date back or have a smaller wedding (People WILL understand)... Remember, as much as many of us dream of having the perfect wedding, what's important is the MARRIAGE, not the wedding. I know you're bummed, but focus on marrying the man of your dreams (and starting your marriage in a good place) instead of the party. I realize that's easier said than done, but focusing on what is really important may help. You still have your man.
Were you planning a church ceremony? Why not just have the ceremony and have close family and friends (the BP) to a dinner afterwards?
Good luck!

I'm sorry to hear what you are going through. But there are other options.
As Kara said, maybe you can still have the church ceremony and then have dinner afterwards. A friend of mine actually did this. They had just bought a house and had NO money AT ALL for a reception. They kept pushing back their date b/c they couldn't afford the wedding. Then finally they decided just to get married at the church. A few weeks later they had a some people over to their house for a barbecue.
I know it may not be what you want or ideal, but they are married, happy, and not in bad debt over the wedding (as opposed to the good debt of a house). You can always have a big reception later on if you still want it.

I am so sorry for what you and your family are going through. It's never easy. I was going to suggest something very similar to the previous posters. Maybe have something smaller and informal. The ceremony and then a dinner with close friends and family. I understand that you wanted your dream wedding but you can always wait until your 1 year anniversary to renew your vows and have a more formal reception. It's something to think about.

Re: we might have to canel the wedding!
I agree with the posters who said that a good option is to have the formal ceremony (because that is really what it is all about) and then a dinner reception for a few friends and family or perhaps your parents or FH's parents or someone you know can open their house and you can have a small cake and champagne reception afterwards. You may lose your RH deposit, but at least you will get to wear your dress and veil and be a bride!!
Good luck!

I am so sorry but maybe you can talk to the hall and see if maybe they can help a little. Cut your guest list and try to cut everything down.

That is awful news to deal with.... Is there any way to make payments to your vendors after the wedding? Start now and continue payments until it's paid even if the wedding is over? You might have to get a specific contract.

most of them wont show up the day of your wedding if they are not paid beforehand
I suggest cutting down, getting a 2nd or 3rd job. Alot of people pay for their own weddings and many girls on this site have 2 or 3 jobs just to pay for it...Its a sacrifice you have to make sometimes. Cut corners as much as you can too
