Sorry im crashing, but i need advice! Im getting ready in a hotel and I want to have my photographer come and take pictures of me getting ready. I had to get a standard room because all the suites were booked!
Im worried the room will be crowded and it will be difficult for the photog to work. Im also having my BM's meet me there. Did you take pictures with the BM's at the hotel at all? If so where? Did you have any issues like this? AHHH
ETA: So i booked my room at the Hyatt for Sat night to check out Sunday. I asked for a late check out Sunday (day of) for 3:00. Usually check out is at 12:00...So i said to the girl if im in the middle of getting ready, they will just come and kick me out....and she said YES! I was like you B*****!!! lol She put it down on my reservation for a 3:00 check out but it depends on that day, if they are in demand for rooms. I would love for someone to try and kick a bride out of her room!!! I will so NUTS!!
Did anything like this happen to you?

I got ready in the hotel... yeah it was tight but the photographer and makeup artists are professionals and they work around whatever environment they're in. I didn't have any problems with space.
I can't help with the bridesmaid thing since I didn't have a bridal party. Sorry!

Can u find a different hotel where u can have more room? If not, are the grounds of the hotel nice so u can take pics there?
I got ready at Danfords in Port Jeff. We just had a regular room but it was beautiful. The room had a balcony so I had lots of pics from there.
We weren't cramped. Since the weather was nice, some people were hanging out outside of the room. I had me, 6 BMs, 2 FG's and my parents.

i did but, we had a suite. I think a reg room will be to tight...is there another hotel you can go to?

We did ours at the Holiday Inn in Stony Brook. I had the biggest suite and there was so many people in there it was still tight and packed. I would suggest not taking pics with the bridal party in the room. The photographer took some shots there of me, my mom, DH's parents, my daughter and 1BM that was ready. It was quite funny because everyone was running around in bras with the photog there. The outside of the hotel was beautiful and we took a lot of pics there that we skipped another location we wanted to go to.

I got ready in a regular room along with my hair/mu person, the photographer, my mom, my sister and also my dad. I didn't get dressed in the room but we all fit and all got done up and it wasn't really that tight at all. Trust me, you'll be in such a fog and so self-absorbed (in a good way) you won't even notice all the people.

thats funny i had similar question about that today!!!
im getting ready at the hilton hotel...and i am taking pics w the girls..and fh will come there for the reveal..and i have standard room too... i dunno..how tight this would be coz...im getting my make up and hair..done somewhere else..and getting dressed there!!!!

This is the issue...Im getting married the same weekend as the U.S.Open!! AHH So EVERY hotel on long island is basically booked! The Hyatt in Hauppauge is where I will be staying. They only have 7 suites (which I cant believe thats all they have!!) and they are all reserved. So I have no choice. Also I have to pay for the room upfront because of the demand for that weekend. And if i decide to cancel, NO REFUNDS!!!

i got ready in a suite. but we all hung out in the 'iving room area' anyway so it was like being in a regular room.
the girls all came and got ready at the hotel with me...makeup and hair was there..my mom had to bring in extra mirrors though because there werent enough for the hair and makeup to have one and for the girls to use
the photo/video came and took a few pictures in the room but none in the lobby/outside. limo pulled up right to the front and we got in and went! HTH!

well..i dont really have bridesmaids...just my girls...this is going to be very small wedding,,,,im getting ready in Hilton garden inn...westbury..and staying for the weekend in hyatt..!!!! soo ill post revieww!!!!!!!

We also took pics at the hotel and photographer took some in the room, one of my DIL walking down the hall and the rest in the lobby. They all came out beautiful.

I got ready in the suite at the hilton. My photographer came and took pics while we were getting ready. My mom and 2 BMs were there. We didn't take formal pictures at the hotel, he just took some fun shots of us getting ready. I wouldn't do formal shots in the hotel -- I wanted them at our beautiful RH. I actually had to argue with the photogs about it -- they thought it would make much more sense to take the family pics at the hotel, but I REALLY wanted them at the grounds of the Thatched Cottage. It all worked out, and whatever you do, it will all work out! It has to!

I was worried about the same thing because I originally wanted a suite. I had 6 girls in my bridal party plus my mom getting ready in the morning, and the 2 people doing hair. I decided to get 2 rooms. It ended up working out really well because there was enough room and outlets if people needed them. How many girls are in your bridal party?
We also took some pics in front of the mirror and getting ready in the room. Then downstairs in the lobby I took some pics with the girls. Good luck!

i got ready at the garden city hotel and it was fine. my mom got 2 rooms that can be joined together...I would get that because your room may be a mess when your parents room might not be or vice versa.

I was thinking of doing that, but the hotel cannot gaurantee connecting rooms until check in... STINKS! This US Open is driving me nuts!!!

Have you tried looking at Bed and Breakfasts instead? You might be able to find rooms or get a suite at a B & B.

I got ready in the hotel and it was fine. But we were at Inn at Fox Hollow, and all their rooms are suites. We were in a smaller one and it was fine. have you gone to see a room at the place you are staying? maybe you can better judge from seeing one.
ETA: I was in a wedding in october where we got ready in a room that wasn't a suite. It was fine and there were a bunch of us going in and out and makeup and hair being done. it was fun and not bad at all.
