So I KNEW FH & I would never have a wedding of over 100 people but our families really pushed us to invite everyone they wanted….and looks like we'll be getting our wish of a small wedding anyway!
So far we have 81 yes responses and are waiting on about 20 more people - we've had very few Nos so far but I think a lot of what we are waiting on (maybe about half) will be Nos.
That means that we'd be at around 90-95 people in the WGP room at Fox Hollow instead of 110 - do you think they'll offer some kind of upgrades for us? What kinds of things should I be asking them to do or add on for us? I don't want my parents to pay for people who don't exist but I also have no idea what RHs usually do in these cases!
My final details meeting is on Tuesday, and guests will have until Thursday to RSVP back…anyone have any experience with a situation like this?

what is the minimum for that room? If the min. is 100, you will have to pay the per head price for that many people... If there is no minimum, then you should be able to give them your final headcount a few days before the wedding and they will only charge you for that many people
if there is a minimum, definitely ask for some incentive since you'll be paying that extra $$, or see if there are any last min friends that you would like to invite to make up for it!

The minimum's 110, sorry I guess it wasn't clear in the middle of all my text!
I know people have asked for some upgrades but my question is more like what is available from reception halls in general in this situation, or more specifically if anyone knows what Fox Hollow is willing to do.
We don't really have other people to invite because we have small families and our friends have pretty much all been invited on top of that. Such a pain to have to deal with, but FH & I knew we wouldn't have that many people…our families were the ones who were appalled when we suggested looking at places for 90 or fewer guests

Don't be surprised if you get 20 more yesses!
When I looked at Fox Hollow, I specifically asked if we got anything if we didn't meet our minimum and they said no. This was for the Somerley, so I suppose they might be more flexible with another room? I would definitely cause a fuss if they refuse to give you anything, though!!

Haha that would be nice but we already got some more Nos today.
I know the WGP is a little more easy to work with than Somerley because it's not their main attraction…even if it's some cocktail hour stations thrown in, that would ease my mind a little bit about the wasted money.

I'm pretty positive we can do that! But we don't have too many vendors so it would only take up maybe 3 extra seats. I've read about people having martini bar stations, I wonder what that is!

OH! You just reminded me - I think at first they told us they had chocolate fountains and (what my very immature self loved) a cotton candy machine! Maybe I'll get some yummy spun sugar :)

We paid for the min. and then after many phones, they finally agreed to put bottled wines on the tables. Nothing else. They wouldn't even allow us to take some of the meals home. Good luck.

We were under our minimum even after counting the vendors. We had to pay the guaranteed 200 people and then our venue threw in some extras. We got some passed desserts and baby lamb chops at cocktail hour.

I was about 10 people under the minimum (after counting vendors towards it) and they offered me a few options. We went with pastries on each table (which were delish!). I spoke to them ahead of time and they said they'd work with us, but they wouldn't discuss specifics until we had the final count in.

If you're really desperate I've seen some brides on here invite other brides so that they can meet their minimums. Don't know how you feel about that but it's also an option.
