Upholstered furniture & cats, please help.

Upholstered furniture & cats, please help.

We just got new couches and one of our cats puts her claws into it when she stretches on the couch. So, we have few tiny nail holes. How can I stop her from doing this?

She did it to our leather but we knew we were getting rid of it so we didn't care.

Thanks so much.

FH's cat did this when we first got him as well. All 3 of them still do it occasionally, but they really seem to have stopped when we got them a cardboard scratching board from Petco. It's only $10 and comes with catnip. They can get a little messy when they're old (carboard pieces everywhere), so it's best to replace them every 4-5 months. Petco

Hi Jennie, I had those when I first got the cats and they showed no interest in it. I think I'll buy another one and place it where she seems to go the most on our couch. It can't hurt to try again.

Thanks for the idea.
