I grew up in Nassau so I'm not that familiar with Suffolk. I have to take a donor to my company out to lunch and they live in that area. Does anyone have a good recommendation for an upscale place to go around the Smithtown area? I'd really appreciate it, thanks!

ciao baby is great! lots of fun and good italian food. sometimes they even have a sinatra singer during dinner. it gets really busy on the weekends, so make sure you go early.

Mannino's on Commack Road is great and Bon Wit Inn also on Commack Rd is good too!

You could also go to the Watermill for dinner - It's wonderful or you could do Pace's on 347.

Casa Rustica (my #1 FAVORITE in the area ) Roberto's in Commack Il Giardino in Commack Cafe La Strada in Hauppauge
Ciao Baby has excellent food, but it's not upscale.

Mirabelle in St. James - delicious French, consistently rated by Zagat's as LI's best restaruant (or at least in the top 3).

Mirabelle is good, but they have weird stuff on the menu, so if you have picky eaters, it's prbably no a good idea. Everyone raves about it though!
Also, Cas Rustica is great, but I had a bad experience there and won't go back.

Mirrabelle is faboulous, so is cafe la strada, and casa rustica as mentioned before. I have grown up in Smithtown and those are my favorites. I also love the garden grill (less upscale but great). Paces is always one of me and my DH's favorite places to go. So many in the Smithtown area. In Nesconset there is Dino's. Great food there. If I think of anything else, I'll add.

Another vote for Casa Rustica! It's awesome - There's also H2O (seafood) in Smithtown, Paces in Hauppage is nice, and there's also Vintage Steak House or Bella Vita Grill in St. James - Both are very good.
