feed your band, photographer, videographer, etc????

We went to our catering hall yesterday, and our baquet manager mentioned that we have to feed our band, photographer & videographer, etc. Not only that we have to do that, but we will also pay for them a full price that we are paying for any guest. Honestly, this is something I was not planning on doing, as band alone is 11 people+ others. That would come out to be an additional $2,000 expense before tax & service charge.

Girls, I need opinions!!!!!!!!!!! How many of you are planning on doing it?

We are definitly feeding them. Ours are half price for all vendors. Even if it wasnt we would do it anyways.

most halls charge half the price to feed the vendors. I would insist on not paying full price as they do not eat the hordourves and often times not even the same meals as the guests. They also dont drink any of the alcohol. My hall charges $25 or $30 per vendor. I would refuse to pay the full price!! That is insane!

You should definitely ask the band if they want to eat.
I remember someone that was part of a band once saying that they would rather not eat the RH dinner that was provided to them, because they eat it ALL the time.
It's worth a shot.

Ask, but expect to feed them.

Both my band and photographer contract state that we must provide a hot meal for them at the reception...

I'm going to feed them. Partially out of courtesy but also because I like my vendors and I want them to share in the happiness of the day and if I have to spend a few extra $$ to feed them and hopefully get better service...I'll do it!!

For us, recommended vendors eat free and non-house vendors are 1/2 price unless they're being used to help us make our minimum guarantee.

You should feed them since they are working all day. However, it is not necessary to feed them what you are feeding your guests. Tell the manager to make something different and less expensive. I am not sure how catering halls work I was able to hire my own caterer and he's preparing something for them as part of my package.
Talk to the Manager, I honestly have never heard of B&G paying full price for their vendors. GOod luck!

You are not the first bride to ask, and you have received the same answers every other bride has received . . . ask the band if they want to be fed, but you MUST feed all the other vendors.

As for the RH telling you the vendor meals are full price, I wouldn't accept that, and would tell the banquet manager he is out of his mind (or something a bit nicer).

as long as we meet our minumum the RH is only asking for half price.

We are feeding the djs and photographers. Our hall is 1/2 price.

If we had used house vendors, it would of been free.

How are you not going to feed your vendors? You have to, try to work with your hall to have them lower the price for the vendors.

You need to work something out w/them. that is crazy to have to spend that much for poeple, who are supposed to be working, to eat.

I am getting married in the same hall as you (in 18 days OMG!), and it's reduced for vendors after you meet your minimum.

We are feeding our vendors...But our hall is charging us half price for vendors and if there the house preferred vendors there free.

WE have the option of paying half price for regular entrees OR getting a 'deli' station for them, which I think is what we are going to do.

Check your contracts before making the decisions, as both my band and photography contract specify hot meals must be included...

I believe if we book vendors that Jericho Terrace recommends, they eat for free. If we book outside vendors, I believe they are 1/2 price.

Our vendors are all recommended by Jericho Terrace. Does you hall count your vendors as your minimum since you are paying for them in full?

My RH said that they could eat the food at CH. He said there is plenty and it always gets replaces if they run out of food.

Def have to provide them with food - they are working with you for most of your day - I am surprised your hall is charging you full price - mine is only 1/2 and if it is a house vender they eat for free.

Maybe you can call your hall and tell them your concern?
