Ladies!!! do any of you have family members that are getting married around the same time as you?? I CANNOT DEAL!
My fiancé and I got engaged November 19th, my sister has been engaged since May of 2011. The only talk of a wedding my sister and future brother in law ever had was going to town hall and getting married... UNTIL Philip and I started planning our wedding. Now, not only are they having a huge wedding (THIS MAY!) but she is inviting herself on all of my appointments with vendors.. I love my sister but I don't want all the same vendors at our weddings, I want out appointments to be about us not her! (she always needs to be the center of attention, and I am mad because this time is supposed to be about us, and yet she has found a way to make everything about her! )
WHAT SHOULD I DO!? I AM GETTING ANNOYED AND EVERYONE SEES IT BUT HER???

Make some appointments without telling her and just explain later that you had to fit in into a busy schedule. Also if you're mother is around explain your feelings to her in hopes that she can maybe give focus to your sister, occupying her, and you can have your 'you' time then once her wedding is over the focus will be back on you. I see you said this may for your sister and you are may 2014 so there should be plenty of time between for your sister to not be on your bum about wedding things :)

I don't talk to our mother (long depressing story lol) and my dad thinks I should just stop telling her when I am planning on meeting with people which I guess I have to do. Its just annoying! OO well!

I completely understand. My cousins and I are all getting married around the same time. My one cousin got married in June, then my other cousin got engaged at the new year and I got engaged in May. She is getting married in Oct and we are getting married in January. She has tried to incorporate us being involved in each other's planning but I want things to be separate because we are different and I am at times afraid she is going to take some of my ideas! I know that is crazy because they are different times of the year, different budgets, different tastes but I want this process to be MY OWN. It may sound selfish but this is once in a life time. I completely get it.

Ahh!! I'd be annoyed. However, my friend recently got married, her brother is getting married soon as well. I learned they got GREAT deals booking vendors at the same time! Maybe something good will come out of it!!
It's definitely annoying, but try to see the positives in it! I totally understand not wanting to use all of the same vendors, but with the exception of the venue, you can book the same vendors and still have everything look different. For example, you could have different photographers from the same place or a different MC from the same DJ company. AND you could even score a discount if your sister is using the same company! If it bothers you though, I would definitely let her know that you don't want to essentially have a carbon copy of her wedding day by using the same people. And I would DEFINITELY NOT be okay with somebody booking the venue I wanted. When FSIL was looking around at venues even before I was engaged, she would ask me if I had my heart set on any particular venue so she wouldn't book 'my' place, which was really sweet of her.
You can also use her wedding day to see what you do and definitely don't want to do on your day. My brother is getting married this May and I'm definitely taking mental notes that day for ideas I like or find out from my SIL if there was anything she wished had been handled differently.
By the way, I see you and your sister are getting married in May, albeit different years. Did she also book the same date as you? Because THAT would bother me.

No I didn't book until after she did for that reason she actually booked the day after our sister got married last year (and got engaged the day of her wedding)

I don't have family but my bff/moh is getting married 3 months before me (she jumped ahead of me) I actually stopped taking her to appts because suddenly it'd become all about her wedding lol. I don't think she did it on purpose but it was super annoying. I mean as a bride it's nice to have it be about us for 1 min lol not sharing the spotlight.

Definitely stop inviting her to appointments, tell her to make her own.
