using priceline.com for hotels

i've never used priceline before & i'm nervous about committing to a hotel without knowing which one it is.

has anyone done this before? was the hotel a good one??

Once you book its non-refundable. So make sure you can absolutely keep the date. I think Jenny2Penny did this and ended up cancelling and lost the money.

We've used Priceline for hotels on many trips (including our honeymoon) with great success -- never got a hotel we weren't happy with. We just got the Doubletree in Santa Monica, CA for $81.... got the Omni Shoreham (very nice hotel) in Washington DC for about the same price in July. We have also gotten Westins and Grand Hyatts on other trips.

We always try to do the 4 star rating for the area -- the 3-star is actually okay as well, if it is a major city. The Doubletree in Santa Monica is considered a 3 star by Priceline, but it is beautiful! Nice pool, gym, immaculately clean and new room, Starbucks in the hotel, jazz lounge and a restaurant.

Good luck!

I prefer hotwire.

We got a 3.5 star in ft lauderdale for $46/night. I like it because I cana lready see the prices and the star levels. I was so happy we ended up in the crowne plaza, and it was utterly fantastic
