Using someone else's 1st dance song?

I need your help! I really LOVE the Shania Twain song 'From this Moment' (or whatever it's called) but one of my BMs used it for her 1st dance back in 2004. Should I pick something else?

There are two versions of the song. One with Shania Twain singing and one with Shania Twain and Bryan White (I think?). I like the duet one.

i dont see a problem with it, Its not like ur friends wedding is the same year as urs. it was almost 5 years ago besides her know one will even know.. If u love it then use it! :)

ITA with the girls. It's a beautiful song and I don't think there would be any problem using it. You could even tell her it's your something borrowed and she might feel honored. Or leave it as a surprise.

ITA too - I say go for it! If you really care, you could just ask your BM. . I'm sure she would say she doesn't care but might be honored you checked!

I dont' think it's a big deal unless she's the kinda person who will go around telling everyone, 'that's my wedding song!' etc. Then you might want to rethink it just to keep drama at bay.

I say go for it. I personally would not be offended if a friend of mine used 'our song'. I'd take as a compliment that I made a great choice

I say go for it! Some songs are just perfect for weddings and this is one of them. And like someone else said, it's not like your weddings are back-to-back where it would maybe seem weird.

That's such a popular wedding song. I saw go for it. I don't see what the big deal is.

I dont' see a problem with it either. If you are nervous about it then talk to her about it. Wouldn't hurt.

I would ask her if she minds first and if she doesn't, then go for it.

I'd ask her first, see what she says. Honestly, since this is a really popular 1st dance song, I dont think there is anything too wrong about it. But if your friend used a rather unique or different song, and you wanted to use it, I could foresee a problem. I wouldnt be overly thrilled if that were the case.. JMO.
