Well here is my input from a marketing perspective...your momogram is like your logo and your 'identity' in this case instead of identifying a company...it represents the two of you as a couple...so why not use it on any and all related wedding items?

I am not using a monogram because i am keepng my name, but i have a shell design that i've used on STD's, the invites and on the favors..and will use in other areas...you'll probably never use it again so why not use it as much as possible!

I dont see anything wrong with using it on your invites. I see it all the time and originally we were going to use it, but have since changed our invites
