My FH and I recently bought a home (we have not moved in yet) and I am trying to budget for utilities. How much aprrox does it cost per month for phone, water, heat (ours is oil), alarm and electricity? Our house is a small cape. All comments aprecciated. Thanks

heat (oil) I have an autopay of 200 per month... by the end of the summer I have a credit balance.
LIPA 165.00
LIPA hot water 5.00
Verizon plan (unlimited local, long distance) 82.00
Cable (I have IO with 3 boxes, 2 modems) 165.00
Water 15.00 every other month.
ETA: Good choice on dates

LIPA- $100 AT&T/Verizon- 40-50 Cablevision (IO w/HBO & optonline) 120 Oil- about 250/month in the winter Water- about 20$ every couple of months.
I think that's it unless you include the massive Home Depot charge card bills!

Gas $105 (level billing plan) Electric $90 (level billing plan) Water $50 every 3 months Alarm $100 every 3 months (Slomins) Phone $65 with unlimited local and long distance
Hope this helps! A good tip is to try the level billing plan if possible. This way you always pay the same amount every month and don't get hit with a $300 bill one month and $100 the next.
