UV Gel Mani

UV Gel Mani

How are they, I heard they are better than acrylic manis. I am afraid that my nailks will break and be so short for the wedding so I was thinking about getting the uv gel while they are a good length. How does it look in person, is it natural looking? Thanks ladies.

if you do a uv gel mani on your natural nails it def looks natural. if you do uv on silk wraps it looks good (better than acrylic) but costs more $ and isnt as natural.

The lady told me that it doesn't ruin your nails, do you think this was a lie?

Re: UV Gel Mani

i had them when i first got engaged (december '08)....then took them off around march/april '09.....they started to grow back last month. i told another nail lady that i had had the uv gel perm. french, and she said 'oh no, you get powder.....the gel is no good' so....btwn my experience and her remark (of course take with a grain of salt), i'll probably be getting the powder for the wedding.... they just wouldn't grow for soooo long!

If you can, try finding someone who does Creative Nails or LCN. but make sure they are certified! Ive had UV for 4.5 years now and i wouldnt change it for the world!

Your nails are gorgeous. Can you reccommend a place in nassau county that does this pretty please!!! My wedding is next saturday and I have been back and forth on getting my nails done. I have great nails but the polish will chip and it just does not work for my 2 day wedding.

I want to do the LCN.

Lauren the same thing happened to me!! I have gotten the uv gel nails 3 different times. The last time I had them I only kept them on about a month, I get sick of long nails. They look great, but personally, on myself, I don't like any fake nails. Yet I think it looks great on others.

I got them done at Unique Nails in Lynbrook. Joolin does awesome uv gels. 516-593-1446
They do the Creative LCN type.
Too bad I get sick of them so fast, I love how it looks on others

I had them done last Oct (I knew I was getting engaged) and honestly it took months for my natural nails to get back in shape. The whole 'non damage' pitch they give you with UV is really just BS....they don't have to use the drill, but other than that, the gel adheres the same way the acrylic does. Also, it was $50 every 2 weeks for a fill in and I just got tired of paying it.

I used Nailtiques afterward for months to strengthen and elongate. I've been going for weekly manicures and my nails are the strongest and longest they've ever been.

the UV does look great and does keep the polish longer by also looks dull IMO. Just thought I'd share my experience before you made the investment!

I could be wrong but I think LCN is just a brand name. I have seen the sign at the nail salon by me -- Bijou in Commack on Jericho

Re: UV Gel Mani

Thanks for all of your honest opinions. I ended up going with the uv gel just because my nails are pretty strong but I always bite them when I'm nervous so I know I will not be able to refrain as the wedding gets closer. I just figure I will not keep them on long after the wedding so it will only be about 1 month that they are on. Thank you so much ladies!

Re: UV Gel Mani

I actually do them at Five Star Nails in Cliffside Park NJ, and the girl only does Creative Nails. The reason i like Creative more if because their pink gel is much 'pinker' than the LCN gel. Try to go on the Creative website and search by your town or nearest location.

HTH!!

Re: UV Gel Mani

I had them done a couple of months before the wedding for my shower, b-pics, wedding, etc. They do look AMAZING and don't chip, etc. However- they do grow in just like anything else, and you have to fill them in every 2 weeks. At cheap places it's like $30 at most places it's like $50-$60. Also I work with my hands a lot, and somehow I managed to crack nails at the base like 3 times. Go figure, but that's not really common. Then I read an article that says the gel they use is super carcinogenic and you shouldn't do it!! OMG! THAT scared me. The worst part is now growing them out. I refuse to just peel them off my whole nail so I clipped them down a bunch and am slowly growing them out/peeling them off. I personally feel it was worth it for me because of all the occasions I needed perfect nails for leading up to the wedding. With my work schedule it's nearly impossible for me to get mani's right before the event, and if I work even a half day my nails are chipped. So the UV was the way to go for me. It just ***** now growing it out, etc. It was $100 at my place to get them put on Good luck!!
