I need to put in my vacation time soon for next years and I was wondering what is a good month to go away and the prices isn't crazy expensive for a week. Any advice would be greatt
I really don't know when is that cheap. As long as it isn't a school holiday, prices are cheaper. Beware of Hurricane season Aug-October. Other than that, have fun!!!!
My random guess would be early September. Schools have started and summer is coming to a close so most people don't go on vacation then.
As a teacher, my advice is to take a look at the school calendar and anything that is not near one of the breaks would be a great time to go away. Otherwise the prices sky rocket.
i think it really depends on where you are going....all different islands and countries have peak and off peak seasons.
Shoulder seasons (i.e. April/May and Sept/Oct/Nov) are usually optimal times to travel. However, you should consider where you're going. For instance, Greece has rainy season in November.

There are certain vacation websites (even try Priceline or Kayak) that will ask you if you're flexible on dates and give you a rate calendar for a given resort/hotel. Those are super helpful. I planned our vacation last year for March 31 thru April b/c on March 31, the resort rates in Mexico dropped by over 30%! They're usually cheap over the summer, too. I think they start to go up again around November (for the Caribbean, at least.)
