Vacationing with Baby?

Vacationing with Baby?

Hello all!

My baby is due in late March. Hubby works very long hours in general, so I'd love to wisk him and the baby away for a vacation. I've gotten the impression that it is actually very easy to travel with an infant, and harder to travel with a toddler. Would you agree? What are the best ages for travel? Should I avoid planes? There are plenty of driving destinations and cruises that leave from NY/Boston, so lots of possibilities. What do you think would be most enjoyable in terms of timing and destination? We don't need lots of activity -- comfy accomodations, good food, and pretty surroundings is what I'm hoping for. (And no dirty looks from other travelers for bringing along baby!)

I don't really know, but we are going to Florida in about 2 weeks with our 4 month-old. I will let you know how it goes!

I have had good experiences both ways. We always traveled with our boys. Only you know your child and his/her habits and you have to try to accomodate them to the best you can when you go away. I pop in a dvd for my boys and they are good or play music and sing to it or just play road games. When they were babies I just playe dmusic and they slept. I find it good either way. but toddlers do get a littel restless every so often so there were more stops along the way.

we have traveled out East when my daughter was 5 months old, it was sooo easy. This year she was 18 months and it was really hard trying to 'contain her', we always had to be moving, we couldn't just sit on the beach and have a few drinks. But, each kid is different, with my oldest daugter we traveled to Jamaica for a friend's wedding and she was such a trooper!!! She had a ball and it was easy to lug her around. I think th younger the easier!!!
