Vacations aren't worth the trouble

Vacations aren't worth the trouble

I'm going to visit my sister in TX from Wed. thru Sun. Wed. and Sun. are both travel days - all day - so I'll really only be relaxing for 3 days. I miss my sister a lot and want to go away, but I am so miserably stressed out and overwhelmed at work because of it that it's making me wonder if it's all worthwhile. Not only have I been working late every day for the last week, I had to work this weekend, and I worked late again tonight. I had to bring work home with me so that I could try to get it all done, went into work early today and will have to again tomorrow, all so I can get 3 weeks worth of work done (it feels that way!) in 2 days before I leave for vacation. Plus I know when I come back, they'll be another big pile of work waiting for me that I'll have to do in a short amount of time.

I'm tired, feel like crying, hating that it's dark at 4:00, really hating the idea that I have several hours worth of work ahead of me tonight, and feeling like this whole trip is not worth all the crap I'm dealing with. I really just want to curl up in bed for a few days and sleep more than anything. What's the point of having all this vacation time if I go away so stressed only to return to be immediately stressed again?

Thanks...just needed to vent. I hate this feeling.

Try to forget the office when you walk out Tomorrow. You will have a great visit with your sister. When you come back you may feel a little rejuvenated and ready to face new challenges (short trips do that for me)
