I just bought a new vacuum today and I just used it and it smells a little like burning rubber. Is this normal. Thanks. I do not remember my old one smelling like this.

Something is probably caught in the bottom...flip it over and see if you can pull it out. Thats happened to me before.

sometimes new parts are coated with an oil to protect them. over use and time the oil burns off and there is no longer an odor.

i remember that happening with my new vacuum, too! after a use or two, the smell stopped.
