I'm asking this question for my future sister in law. She would like to have a May 2007 wedding and loves the Vanderbilt, but was told that they only book 1 year in advance, so the earliest she could actually book her date would be May 2006.
Did anyone else have this problem with their hall only booking dates as early as 1 year in advance? (I know I booked my hall more than a year before.)
Thank you!

Re: Vanderbilt Brides - How soon did you book?
I didn't have that problem with my hall but I know that this is the Vanderbuilt's policy. I am not sure why they do that--I thought it was a beautiful place but it wouldn't fit the amt of people we are inviting and I didnt' want to risk waiting a year to book my reception and then get stuck with something that I didn't like.

I was told the one year policy is because Dowling gets first dibs on the mansion for any function they'd like to have there. They have up to one year to reserve the mansion, if not then the date is given to the catering department to fill.

That's correct.

I only took pictures there, but they told me only alumni can use the hall now and that they could only confirm with me a month before the wedding because Dowling College gets first dibs if they want it, even if you're penciled in. But that was just for the pictures, not the whole wedding.
