Vanderbilt -Oakdale remodeling in summer 2004?

Is this true? If so, what does that entail? Hopefully, a larger ballroom! I'll ask next time I call tehm, but was wondering if anyone knew anything.

I haven't heard anything like that and I'm getting married in September 2004. I'm sure if they are doing anything its nothing major since its a landmark building and they can't stuctural changes. I know they are putting a replica of a monument on the lawn which was there originally. Where did you hear that they were remodelling?

hi! I read it somewhere on this website - couldn't tell you where since I have been chatting all day! How many guests are you having? How are you planning on setting up your tables?

I'm guessing I'll probably end up with somewhere between 130-140. It's been recommended to put the band in the right had corner with 3 table on that side, 5 on the left, and 3 in each of the wings. But there may be other options if I have less than 130 guests.

I just booked there and was told they wer planning on remodeling(dowling college) but have decided against it and will now only remodel the conservatory at thanksgiving time.

Thats what they tell me! I hope so..but i am having a church wedding so if it is not, it is not a big deal!

I am getting married at the Vanderbilt Mansion in August 2004. At the time of our booking, which was about one year in advance, the coordinator had indicated to us that the Mansion would probably be closed for renovations starting in September. As stated in other emails, the renovation was postponed.

I've spoken with the site coordinator about table arrangements--we are probably having 130-145 guests, a band and my fiancee and I want to sit at a table of ten versus by ourselves, and she has been very helpful with letting us know what kind of arrangements work in the ballroom. One option is to put the band infront of the fireplace and push the tables down the sides. Another bride who got married at the Vanderbilt told me that they had their band on the left side of the building, the side facing the courtyard and it created a larger dancefloor.

We still haven't decided what we are going to do. I'll keep you posted if you like.
