Re: Vegas Help...

Ive never stayed at any of those but if I were to pick, I would do the New York, NY.

Re: Vegas Help...

Sahara is at the top of the strip, or the bottom depends on how you look at it, right before the stratosphere.

Circus Circus is swarming with kids, as well as the Excalibur.

Circus Circus is also up neat the Sahara.

Aladdin is in a good location - right in the middle of the strip.

MGM, Tropicana, Excaliber and NY NY are all on the same corner.

MGM was really nice, but I thought it was cheaper, maybe it was the time I went.

They were running good sales on expedia, when we were looking to go in August.

I've stayed at the Monte Carlo (somewhat pricey), the Riviera, Circus Circus and the Sahara.

I would not recommend any of the other 3 hotels I mentioned if you're looking for style and romance. Circus, Circus was the absolute worse of all of them - the casino was so dirty and too many kids to mention...

We stayed at the Riviera for our pool tournament that we won, and it's not too bad. But not the nicest...

Sahara is fine - cleaner than the others - but the rooms need a face lift.

If you stay anywhere on the strip, you can just take the CAT (the bus) up and down the strip...it's very easy! Just make sure you have singles!!

Re: Vegas Help...

all these choices makes me NOT WANT TO GO...ugh.

I honestly have no desire to go.. but DH really wants to go and I really just want to get Vegas out of the way so we can go to some other places next...

What about Treasure Island, I absolutly loved it there, the hotel was the perfect size and the rooms were really nice!

Re: Vegas Help...

You know what - reading my post over makes me not want to go cause of how I wrote it - I'm so sorry I wrote it that way and turned you off to it...

I look at it like this -
No matter where you go in the summer (Vegas or anywhere else), there will be a lot of kids - it's summer vacation. Unless you go to a couples resort, which is not heard of in Vegas.

When I say rooms need a face lift - I don't mean they are dirty - just not glitsy and brass like top notch vegas. But I travel with a pillow ANYWHERE - Bellagio vs. Sahara is no different to me.

But when you go with your DH, you will do what you want - go to shows, casinos, rides - and it won't matter who is around you and what age they are...

You will have a great time no matter where you stay (just dont stay at circus, circus - I'm not that critical, and even I didn't like it)

I hope this helped more!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Vegas Help...

Nah, it isn't what you wrote- it's the websites too- it's just annoying to me.
I just want to hang out by a pool where I won't feel like killing myself because of 1) annoying children and 2) people with perfect bodies.

Re: Vegas Help...

At Treasure Island, they were neither, or none that I noticed.

The pool at the MGM was very cool, it had a lazy river which was great to lay in on a tube, but the hotel is big, so there were more kids then other hotels, but the percentage of adults to kids was baout the same.

Circus Circus has an amusment park, so it is crawling with them.

Vegas is so much fun!!!

Re: Vegas Help...

Ok......I hear ya - but if the parents keep their kids in line, you should be FINE, really.

And as for beautiful bodies - the Vegas in the movies is much different than real life. Like, my first time there, I thought I'd be wearing glittery stuff, amazing clothes, jewlery, the whole nine - meanwhile everyone just walks around in jeans and t-shirts!!!!!

Re: Vegas Help...

I am so nervous to go. I feel like I'm going to HATE it... I really wanted to go to Bermuda but we could only afford a cruise and I don't really like them too much ...

so I know DH wants to go- but the whole planning thing makes me want to stay in NJ

Re: Vegas Help...

LOL - you won't hate it!!!!!! You're gonna have a blast......

See what shows are offered too - good shows are key...

We saw the headlining magician at Monte Carlo and he was great (can't remember his name)...

We saw the impersonation show Legends at the Imperial - it was great!

We want to see O this year...

We heard Danny Ganes at the Mirage I think was great too!

HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Vegas Help...

My brother does not gamble, he doesn't see the point, but he went with us one time and had a great time. There are so many things to do there.

Definitly check out some shows. Everytime we go, we see a Cirque du Soleil Show, Mystere and O are excellent.

Believe me you won't have a bad time if you go.

Re: Vegas Help...

I'd also recommend The Rio hotel. It is an all-suite hotel. I thought the rooms were nice and the pool was great! They also have one of the better buffets in Vegas. The only downside is they are not on the 'main' strip, but its a very quick cab ride to the strip.

Harrah's usually gets good reviews and runs a lot of package specials, you may want to check them out too.

Good luck with planning! There really is a lot to do besides gambling. The shows (both the free ones and the ones you purchase tickets for) are really fun. Bring a camera and some good walking shoes!

Re: Vegas Help...

My DH hates musicals- won't ever go to them with me here in NY- do you think he'll even like the shows in Vegas or will he just be gambling the whole time?

Re: Vegas Help...

My brother and SIL were just in Vegas this past weekend (they went on to San Francisco) and stayed @ The Paris and they loved it! I don't think it was that expensive--sorry that is all I have to offer--my grandpa lives there I can ask him for you! o yeah--they also saw the show 'O' and loved it!! and believe me--my brother is a not 'show' person but he said it was amazing!

Re: Vegas Help...

My DH is not a show person either, but he has enjoyed all of them.....they aren't all musicals....

Do you gamble? Cause it can totally s u c k you in if you do. But if you book shows ahead of time, you can be sure you won't gamble the whole time (Chris and I loooooooooove to gamble, so this isn't an issue for us, but we make sure to see at least one show each visit)...

One show we saw that was a little cheesy, but hysterical was the naughty hypnotist at the Greek Isles. I actually got hypnotized!!!!!!!! It was funny for Chris and I saw how funny it was after I bought the video!

Also, one day, rent a car and drive to the hoover dam and lake mead...

Don't have any advice b/c I have never been either but really want to go....
Just wanted to say have a great time!

Re: Vegas Help...

I have never been to Lake Mead but I heard it is amazing, my FH is not into musicals, but he loved the Cirque du Soliel shows.

The Rio seemed really nice too, I never stayed ina room though. There is a free shuttle bus that run from the strip to the Rio
