Where would you suggest to stay. We have my cousin's wedding there in Jan. She blocked rooms at Venician, where her wedding is, but I can't justify $300 a night for a weekend in Vegas, where I assume, we will not be in the room much.. We're only going for a long weekend. We're meeting w/ out TA this week. I was never there and FH was only there when he & his friends went for his 21st 5 years ago.

Re: Vegas Hotels?
Near the Venetian you have Treasure Island and Mirage (those are closest). If you don't mind taking a cab, Caesar's is nice (you can walk, but if you are going to be all dressed up, i think it's a little too far), the Palms is fun, but OFF the strip and you definitely need a cab. And my favorite, New York New York, but that is on the other side of the strip and you need to take a cab from there as well. But it was one of the best hotels I've stayed at there. That one and the Plams have a really young crowd!!
good luck

Re: Vegas Hotels?
Try the Monte Carlo it is a little quieter than some of the hotels, still very nice just quiet and their prices are good. They also have a very nice pool area. I stayed there for 6 nights in 2002 and would go back.

Flamingo is super cheap - it was clean and nice and had a nice pool, it just isn't as modern and updated as the other hotels on the strip. and its right in the middle of the strip!0
FH and I said when we go back we would stay at new york, ny. Its so nice in there!

I've stayed at The Tropicana, Treasure Island and the Venetian. And the best was of course Venetian. It was gorgeous. But Treasure Island is also nice and not as expensive.

Re: Vegas Hotels?
I'm in vegas ALL THE TIME for work - so much that i wouldn't consider going there for a vacation as I'd feel like I was working. You should try Cesars - its closer to the venetian and if you request a renovated room they are beautiful . though all of them might be renovated at this point. they are very 'w' hotel and their prices are very good.
HAVE FUN!

Thanks so much! We're meeting w/ the TA this weekend, but from the little research we did online we like Paris & Mirage. Why would some one choose either? Since you live in Vegas I have a few other questions: Are the tours to Grand Canyon & the damn via Pink Jeep worth it? Would it be better to just rent a car & bring a GPS? Have you seen a lot of the shows? Love? Zumanity? Reviews? The wedding is a Sat. We will fly in Thursday.
I would say either Paris ( my favorite gambling spot ) Or Mirage are both fine. I would go with Mirage if its important to be closer to the Venetian. Again. TI is across the street. There is also a monorail that runs the strip with different locations.. having said that. As far as tours go.. since we live here, we've never taken a tour. I wouldnt ever take one to Grand canyon.. I thin its like 6 hours one way? YOu would have to overnight there. The dam is pretty close, so if you dont mind being on someone elses watch a tour would be fine. I on the other hand would rent a car. Avis has rentals with GPS. If you are into exploring you can drive to the dam one day and out to Red Rock one. There is a casino there too.. Red Rock Casino... and we love it there. There is an excellent Mexican restaurant there as well as BBQ.
For shows. I have seen Phatom 3 times, Blue man group, Le REVE at Wynn, Mystere at TI, 'O' at Bellagio, Zumanity at NYNY as well as Elton John and some others. Having said that.. Phantom is my all time favorite. Le Reve or Mystere for a cirque show.. Ive wanted to see LOVE but havent yet.. I would say yes to that too.
How long are you staying? What else do you want to do? Clubs? Or are you more of a laid back bar type? I LOVE love love to go to the dueling pianos. So much fun. And the Carnival court at Harrahs is an outside venue , dancing, dj and or band.. lots of fun. Then the dueling pianos are right inside and Toby Keiths' I love this bar' is upstairs... This is all right close to Paris... so if you stay at Paris you are pretty close by.
Hope that helps.

Thanks! Grand Canyon is out! Clubs & bars yes, we're down for it all, except for the SMUT, lol... My family is all going to be there (well 50 people from our family, I think 120 for the wedding) ...Where would you suggest. We go clubbin in NY so we're used to inflated drink prices... We love lounges, any good ones.... Yay , my very own Vegas Guru Thanks so much!

Re: Vegas Hotels?
FH and I recently went to Vegas and the cheapest hotels that were decent were NY NY, Luxor and Planet Hollywood (bc they were having a special). We picked PH and it was great -- center of the strip, across from Bellagio. They were finishing renovations (that were supposedly completed end of Sept) and we got one of the new renovated rooms which was pretty nice -- flat screen TV, huge bathroom etc but we didnt really care so much about the room. Their casino was pretty nice, and right next to the Paris, etc.
Luxor was not centrally located and was other end of the strip from Venetian so I'd rule that out. NYNY is also further in that direction. Flamingo Hilton is nice too -- very beautiful pool area but always overcrowded.
I'd say PH was great and would highly recommend it if you dont want to spend the $$ for Venetian (which is my fav hotel to visit). FH and his buddies stayed at the signature towers of MGM and loved it but it was a bit more expensive for our trip (they split 1 room 4 ways).
GL!

The Venetian is beautiful, but so are many other hotels there! Unfortunately, unless you really look for deals, whats what youre going to pay. The Bellagio is also stunning.

Re: Vegas Hotels?
I stayed @ monte carlo last summer... quieter than the rest, GREAT location, reasonable prices & has everything you need!
