Vegetarian Guests....

Re: Vegetarian Guests....

there are tons of vegetarian pasta dishes that non-vegheads would like.... veg lasagna, penne + veg in alfredo sauce....

Vegan is a whole other issue.... that would be tough.... maybe pasta with sauteed veg and nuts?

We're having a vegetable primavara option, salads, and roasted vegetables in our buffet for our herbivorous friends....

we have 7 options the guests can choose from so one will be vegetarian, we have several guests that are so it will be nice to have the option for them

My hall also includes a vegetarian Dish on top of the menu we pick.

ditto

same with me. I think a veggie dish is definitly a must b/c how can they not have a dinner entree when everyone else at the table is eating?

i agree, ask ur hall if they can add it or have it as a requested item...i only have 1 vegetarian, but im sure the el caribe will have more than enough options for her!!

most halls offer a vegetarian option at no additional cost, i'd ask your hall what they can do for you. as a vegetarian myself i'd say that my fave veg. options at weddings are usually a pasta dish of some kind. when its just veggies, like roasted veggie platter or salad, etc it doesn't really feel like an actual meal to me. hth!

Plus, they can always choose the fish!

Fish isn't vegeterian.

A lot of vegetarians eat fish, not all, but a lot.

A pesci-vegetarian eats fish, but it's not considered TRUE vegetarianism - it's a semi-vegetarian diet. not that all the technicalities matter too much, but just be aware that having fish on your menu doesn't make it a vegetarian one. i have this problem a lot when i go out to eat.

on another note, be careful when putting things on your menu that look vegetarian, b/c a lot of times they aren't, esp when they have some kind of broth (it's usually chicken or fish).

and i'd agree with having something that isn't a plate of grilled veggies. while it may be good, it usually feels more like an appetizer than a meal. also props if you have something other than grilled veggies or a pasta dish for vegetarians as those are usually the fallbacks and it's nice to get a bit of variety. speaking of variety, if you have a lot of vegetarian guests, you may want to consider more than one option for them. it's the same with meat eaters - some people like chicken, some like fish, and some like beef, etc. some vegetarians life tofu, some like pasta, etc.

just points to consider from a vegetarian perspective. =0) i'm personally having a meat-free affair and wondering if there's a rh that can accomidate that. =0P

I'm having a veggie wedding as well, and it was easy - basically, we picked a small place and it is happy to do what I'm paying them to do. Heck, if you want an all-chocolate wedding they'll do it for you, if you tell them that's what you're paying them for.

My FFIL is vegetarian and so are 1/3 of my guests. So I'm adding fish to the main entree.

Re: Vegetarian Guests....

We had 4 different vegetarian options available upon request, so we didn't have to choose a specific veggie entree.
We did take vegetarians into account when choosing our hot ch dishes, though.

A lot of ppl consider themselves vegetarians even though they eat fish. They are NOT vegetarians.

I am a vegetarian and most places I have been to have a vegetarian choice available. It is not always very good, but at least I can eat something! Ask your RH about it...

3 of my 6 sisters are vegetarian. We had them do a seperate tasting of veggie apps and dinners. I was told to stear clear of a plate of grilled veggies as their meal so we are having the hall make something specail for them.

FW is vegetarian, as is a bunch of our friends. So the veggie option has to be good. thankfully, our caterer is going to do a vegetable napoleon or some kind of portobella mushroom entree.

At my wedding, the vegetarian option was SO good, that many non vegetarians saw it and wound up ordering (stuffed butternut squash!!!)

I'm vegan - so it was a must to have a delicious veggie option!!!

Please people, the veggie options have moved way past salads and pasta - your RH is charging you a fortune - make them work for it a bit!!!

thank you for the continued clarification everyone - reading over and over again that fish is a vegetarian option was starting to make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.

Fish were living things before a hook went into their mouths or whatever. They bleed. They flop around struggling to live if you try and kill them. That is not vegetarian!!!!!!!
