Vegetarians - HELP ME!

Vegetarians - HELP ME!

So my FH is trying to come up with ideas for gifts for the groomsmen. We were thinking of bbq tools or a monogram brander thing for steak. The problem is that one of his brothers is a vegan and so are his wife and children. Do vegans and vegetarians still BBQ? Or is this pointless? Any suggestions for something similar?
TIA

I imagine they could still BBQ - veggies, veggie burgers and soy meat products, etc. You could still get the same tools as everyone else - maybe instead of the brander you could get a vegetable basket for the grill - like this

Yes I think so. You can make fish on the BBQ, grilled vegies, grilled shrimp. Find out if they own a BBQ too.

Vegetarians still bbq but not in the same capasity so I don't think you should give him the same gift. What about a GC to a vegan store?

Vegetarians don't eat fish or shrimp. If he is a vegan he also doesnt eat cheese or dairy.

FW is a vegetarian- I think she's not as into bbq as me because of it. Might do better to get something else for him. Hmmm

I was just going to say that.

I think you should think of something else. I don't think they would get as much use at of BBQ stuff as a meat eater would

This is where it becomes complicated b/c i dont eat meat but i do eat fish and shrimp. However some vegans do not eat fish and shrimp, it depends on the individual person.

Im a vegetarian and I dont bbq. Theres nothing I can really do other then veggy burgers...and its a lot to pull out the bbq to cook a veggy burger. And if his whole family are vegans Im sure they dont. I would think of possibly something else for them...sorry! Hope that helps!

Vegans NEVER eat fish and shrimp. They also do not eat any dairy product nor do they eat or wear any animal/fish products. No meat, fish, dairy, eggs..... Additionally, vegetarians do not eat fish or shrimp. Some find it easier to explain their dietary preferences as being a vegetarian even though they eat seafood but that is not the correct term.

veg·e·tar·i·an /?v?d??'t??ri?n/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[vej-i-tair-ee-uhn] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation
–noun 1. a person who does not eat or does not believe in eating meat, fish, fowl, or, in some cases, any food derived from animals, as eggs or cheese, but subsists on vegetables, fruits, nuts, grain, etc.

no, it doesn't depend on the individual person. If you eat fish but no other meat, you are a pescatarian. If you eat only poultry but no other meat, you are a pollotarian. If you eat no meat, but use other animal products (dairy, honey, etc), then you're a vegetarian. You are ONLY a vegan if you eat absolutely no animal products at all - no meat, no dairy, etc, etc.

If you don't eat red meat but eat other meats (chicken, fish, etc), then you're just a person who doesn't eat red meat.

In the end, it really doesn't matter what you call yourself, except that I've known vegetarians and vegans who have been fed fish, etc, because people didn't know what the title meant. So, you might as well know the correct terminology so others don't get confused

as for what gift to get - vegans certainly can and do grill, although with any person, it depends on their tastes and how/if they like to cook.

Sorry for the long pause it took me a while to get the proper term. You would be considered a Pescetarian. This is different then a Vegetarian because you eat fish and seafood.

Ok I am going to throw a thought out there, because I do like your idea..but as a vegetarian I do not eat off a bbq. The reason being that meat has touched the bbq and I do not like my non-meat food to touch meat. It's rare FH and I will go to a bbq, but if we do, we usually don't eat anything off the grill. Some people are very picky and strict with their eating habits. But there are tons of veggie options to eat on the grill like veggie burgers and tofu sausages and such, so if he's not finicky about eating where meat has been you should have no problem. Just check into that. HTH!

Re: Vegetarians - HELP ME!

instead of BBQ stuff, why not get something specifically for vegetarians.... like a juicer, or one of those cute kits to grow soybean sprouts or wheat grass? Or a really nice basket of nuts.... (just make sure no animal products are additives... cheese products, gelatin....)

Frequently, veg heads can feel it's an uphill battle to have their lifestyle acknowledged and respected.... especially vegans... so to actually celebrate all that is veg would likely be very much appreciated!
