Vegetarians...lots of questions

Original post by yabbobay

I don't like fish...I don't like much poultry...neverliked to eat that much red meat - AND nothing on the bone b/c it freaks me out...but tonight (and this happened the last time I ate tacos) I wanted to gag on the meat...

I'm not sure if its the taste...or if its the idea that its an animal...

so...heres the question...what do I eat? I love eggs (cage free )...nuts? I try to stay away from PB b/c of the calories and fat...I try to eat tofu...bu I guess I need to do it more often?

I love to make my own hummus! Actually, I won't eat the store brand since I started making it myself.

Spinach and leafy greans (they have the all important b-12). BEANS and legumes (chickpea, kidney, pinto, etc, etc...think veggie chili, three bean salad, hummus, bean burritos, etc. etc.). NUTS (soy nuts, almonds, walnuts, pecans, etc). SOY products (fake burgers, pork, sausage, etc. etc.). Colorful veggies - sweet potatoes, peppers, etc. FRUIT.

Try not to substitute your previous foods with too much eggs, dairy and starch - it will make you gain weight and you will be unhealthy.

Make sure you get lots of colorful fruits and veggies.

There's some great cookbooks out there, hit the bookstore. My recommendation:

Meatless Meals for Working People

You can get it at the bookstore or at www.peta.org

The animals thank you.
