I'm going to have a cathedral length mantilla veil, and I plan on taking it off during the reception. The lady at the bridal salon said you leave your veil on until your first dance, then take it off.
Really? I had never heard this before, I tried to think of past weddings I had been to, but I couldn't remember what the brides did. I know I can do whatever I want, but wondering what you girls are doing?

I've been to weddings where the bride kept it on, and where the bride took it off... I think its totally up to you and what you want to do.
For me personally ... I will probably leave mine on through the first dance, but mine isn't long.. it only comes to my fingertips.

If its a cathedral veil, it might be tricky to get through your first dance with it on! Unless, I guess, you aren't planning to move around too much, but even if you are dancing in slow circles, it would get twisted and you'd have to keeo kicking it around, no?

Someone at Davids Bridal had mentioned a very good thing to me that i never even thought of. She said if you wear your veil OVER all your hair, no one if going to see the hair that you spent all your money on. Then she showed me that you can clip it UNDER your hair if you're wearing your hair up so you can still see your hair

I think it all really depends on what you want. I guess you spend all of that money on the veil you might as well wear it a bit longer. I'm not wearing a veil at all so who says you really need to do anything a certain way!

That is what I'm doing. I dont want to wear a veil the whole time so I'm going to take it off after the first dance. Unless I forget to take if off then it will be on the whole time

I don't think it matters! No one is going to remember if your veil was on for the dance or not.

I think it is a personal choice. I have been to weddings where the bride wore her veil the entire night, where at other weddings the bride only wore it for the ceremony. I imagine it may be difficult to dance while wearing a cathedral length veil. You could always get shorter veil if you wanted for your first dance.
