Veil covering Your Face?

Veil covering Your Face?

I want to wear a veil but I don't want toI walk down the asile with it covering my face.

I felt like a trapped tuna and I couldnt see anything when I tried it on at the bridal shop.

I am not getting married in church so my question is ...covered or not?

what are you ladies doing?

the veil in front of the brides face was orignally in place to hide the bride so that the groom couldnt see her. this way if he wasnt pleased iwth what she looked like he could leave!

Re: Veil covering Your Face?

it's so funny bc originally i just didnt like veils period, and guess thats why i waited until 2 weeks before the wedding to buy one lol. Just having it on annoyed me at the store and forget it with being over my face.

But i decided to cover my face so i can give my dad his moment of lifting it up off my face and did it for him.

The day of didnt bother me and didnt feel claustrophobic which is weird bc any other time i felt very claustrophobic but you're in such a different mind set it doesn't even bother you. And i saw perfectly fine.

Here are pics with face covered

so funny i never read that one, i always saw the protecting her from demons meaning. But the one you posted is histerical

here is the definition i found

As mentioned above, one purpose of the wedding veil was to conceal the bride from demons. Family and friends were aware that the veiled figure standing next to the groom was the bride, but fortunately the goblins were apparently fooled. The superstition was so strong that families even supplied bridesmaids as decoys. These maids would not wear veils but would be dressed attractively and prepared to sacrifice their souls if required. Superstitious nonsense maybe, but the tradition continues to this day.

just so you dont think im making things up:

Others say the the origin of the bridal veil was due to the circumstances of an arranged marriage. In days past, men bargained with an eligible young lady's father for their hand in marriage. AFTER the ceremony, the veil was lifted to reveal the brides features. This was to keep a groom from backing out of the deal if he didn't like what he saw.

so funny!

oh no please don't get the wrong idea lol, I believe you 100%. I had only read the evil spirits thing but i think it was also bc i looked up traditional ceremonies and alot of old religious origins came up and that sort of stuff. I just found it histerical, imagine a guy standing there waiting and then she lifts her veil and he runs
