i am wearing it through the introduction, first dance and cake cutting (before dinner) during dinner i plan on taking it off for the rest of the night
I'll probably do this too, if not sooner. It bugged me wearing it around the house for 5 minutes haha....

I wore it through the toasts, then I took it off. I wanted to show my hair for part of the night and I wanted to be comfortable while dancing.

I had a cathedral length veil that I only wore during the ceremony. But I had to be very careful taking it off without messing up my hair. A friend of mine chose to leave her veil in for the reception to avoid the hassle of possibly messing up her pretty up do.

ps: i actually wish i would've worn it longer! it looks so pretty in the few pics that it IS in, and it was just such a nice veil...if u wanna take it off for a portion of the evening u could take it off after u cut the cake?? that's what i wish i would've done

I wore my veil throughout my entire day, including the reception. But it was only a fingertip-length veil and it was pinned in the back under my hair so it was never in my way. If you're wearing anything longer you might want to take it off (maybe leave it on for your first dance).
I did the same. I did not wear it high on my head and did not want to un do my doo . I did originally want to take it off for the reception...glad I didn't.

I wore mine till almost the very end of the reception. I had my SIL take it off right before the last dance. That sucker was holding in heat against my neck and back!
One suggestion, if I may, on how your veil is attached: I had a comb that was pushed in right in front of the bulk of my hair (king of a curly bun) and was sitting on top of my head. My veil was velcro'd to the comb. I wasn't sure if I was going to want to wear it all night long but I didn't want to attempt to take it off and then ruin my hair with the comb coming out too. So the maker (got the veil at Barron's) velcro'd the tulle to the comb so it could just be ripped off if i wanted to get rid of it. It was great and was very secure.

This is exactly what I plan to do,, wear it up until the first dance then take that bad boy off although it will be a fintertip one.. At first I planned on taking it off right after ch,, but I changed my mind( I think)

I took mine off after the first dance. I loved the back of my dress and you couldn't see it with the veil on. Plus I thought it would be annoying while i was dancing.
