Veil during walk down the aisle

Veil during walk down the aisle

Who is wearing it in front of your face and who is not? What are your opinions? I cant decide what i am going to do. I just don't want my brother all clumsy trying to take it out of my face and I want my FI to see me. Then I thought it might help sort of like if I were wearing sunglasses. AHHHH- how do you decide?

I think it looks so nice in pictuures.
But FH and I have lived together for 2 years, and I see the blusher as a traditional thing that doesn't really apply to out situation, so I will pass. I am also wearing ivory, but to each his own, ya know?
But it really is pretty.

The whole thing with the veil in front of your face from what I understand is the symbolism of purity (meaning you're still a virgin) and this is the first time you are revealing yourself to your future husband for the first time....I'm nto 100% on this someone please back me up (or not)

I'm not - I think it's a personal decision, whatever you're comfortable with.

I did not do the blusher. I really don't have a good reason why I opted not to do this but I just didn't think it was necessary. It is a personal choice. Maybe if I was getting married in a church I would have wore a blusher.

I think it's a personal decision, just like how I don't want a veil at all. If you are going to wear one though, you might as well have it down, otherwise it seems silly to wear it at all. (IMHO)

OK just found this from this website...

http://www.marriagemissions.com/premarriage/wedding_traditions.php

Bridal Veil:

When marriages were arranged by family members, the newlyweds very rarely were allowed to see one another. Family members exchanging a dowry were afraid that if the Groom didn't like the appearance of the Bride's face, he might refuse to marry her. This is why the Father of the Bride 'gave the Bride away' to the Groom at the actual wedding ceremony. Only after lifting her veil just prior to the ceremony did the Groom see the Bride's face for the first time! Early Greek and Roman Brides wore red or yellow veils to represent fire, and ward off demons.

[It is speculated that the tradition of wearing a veil came from one of two possibilities: it is a throw-back to the time when the groom would throw a blanket over the head of the woman of his choice when her captured her and carted her off, or when marriages were arranged, the bride's face would be covered until the ceremony was complete, so it would be too late for the groom to run off if he didn't like the look of his bride.]

OK so I was wrong!

I'm wearing mine in front of my face. I don't really want to, but we're having a Jewish ceremony and that's how it's done.

It's beautiful for brides to do what they're most comfortable with, that being said I'm not wearing the veil in front of my face. It just isn't me, I've never liked it for myself but it's lovely if that's what the bride wants.

Re: Veil during walk down the aisle

Im not just for a few reasons:
-The blusher in my face my annoy me
-Might hinder me and I trip
-My FH might not flip it over so gracefully
-I also used to no want to do it becuase of purity traditonal reason blah blah blah but I came across this meaning of why this was started:

One purpose of the wedding veil was to conceal the bride from demons. Family and friends were aware that the veiled figure standing next to the groom was the bride, but fortunately the goblins were apparently fooled. The superstition was so strong that families even supplied bridesmaids as decoys. These maids would not wear veils but would be dressed attractively and prepared to sacrifice their souls if required.

Another is more religious
The Torah continues to say that Moses' face was so bright with holiness, no one dared look at him. He had to wear a veil whenever he spoke to the people in order to filter the divine glare.1

This is also why a bride wears a veil. The souls of both bride and groom are in an elevated state under the Chuppah (marriage canopy), as they are about to unite as one. In the bride, this elevated state is more revealed. She radiates a special holiness; the divine presence ('Shechinah'), the feminine aspect of G-d, shines through the face of the bride.

This light is so intense that it must be veiled, just as the light emanating from Moses' face had to be covered. Holiness needs privacy.

Guilty as well But there is also other beliefs that have nothing to do with purity. You can use one of those

Im wearing white so.. I am using the belief that you wear white becuase it is the color of Joy and happiness not becuase I am pure.

I'm chosing not to wear it in front of my face. i think it would just annoy me anyway and I have a crazy fear of tripping at some point walking down the aisle.

No blusher for me. I don't know for some reason I don't want it to be in my face.

I never wanted it in my face nor did I wear it that way, but when I see pics of it like that I think it looks great. My reasons were dumb, though:

I didn't want my own lipstick to get on it

I knew my dad would pull it back all whacked! LOL!

Edit:...wait...does Dad even pull it back or does DH? Well, either of those 2 would have done it whacked.

I do... I think it's one more special 'bride-y' thing to do, so I'm going for it!
