Anyone out there not wearing a veil? I'm thinking of having an updo with just a flower pin on the side or something like that...

Re: Veil or no veil?
while at my friends wedding over the summer, she took her veil off because her earing got stuck to it. well her grandfather started yelling at her in the middle of the reception saying that your not a bride unless you have your veil on. so since then i have a picture of an old italian man yelling. it doesn't help that he lives on my block & i see him everyday. so i will be wearing a veil.

even though i did wear a veil, i took it right off after first dance. Infact alot of girls on here did the same thing, they wore veils but took them off at the reception. You dont have to wear it all night even if you do wear one

I did wear a veil for most of the night but then took it off b/c it was catching on the back of my dress and getting annoying.
You are no less of a bride if you dont wear a veil. So dumb to even say that.

Re: Veil or no veil?
I'm old fashioned and I will wear my veil all night. I'm getting 2 for this reason.
I've seen the flower in the hair- a friend had an outdoor wedding at a winery in Argentina, sleek gown...it was perfect. It worked for her. Do what makes you happy and what reflects you.
i prefer a veil. i feel the veil really completes the 'bride' look so i have intentions of wearing it all night.

I'm wearing a veil but definitely no blusher... I think the blusher is like surprise I'm here again when he lifts it. The flower pins sound like a nice idea, especially during the reception.

DH didn't lift my veil off my face, my dad did. I wasnt going to wear a blusher either, but i got a 2 tiered veil in the end 2 weeks before the wedding but just to give my dad his moment of lifting the veil off my face and then giving me away to dh. But your dh doesnt have to do it, ive seen it done that way but most times ive seen the dad do it
i also wasnt fond of veils, thats why i waited until 2 weeks before to buy one lol. And a blusher made me feel even more omg its going to feel claustrophobic lol. Surprisingly not at all, when youre walking down the aisle you dont even realize it or pay attention to it, youre too focused on your dh and only concern of yours. I will say that during pics that veil was driving me F*IN nuts, but i did get good pics bc of it so was good in the end lol. It was getting caught to everything and annoying me, even after i took off cathedral and had only elbow length. By the time we got to the reception i wanted to rip the thing off my head lol, but i waited until after first dance and as soon as it was done, i said take this freaking thing off of me lol

i agree with the blusher..its kind of a dad thing. i'm am the only daughter and im close with my father and even if i didnt want to do the blusher i still would so i could give my dad that moment. i think it will mean lot to him

Re: Veil or no veil?
My sister didn't have a veil. We fought tooth and nail about it because I thought she should have one but her dress was so magnificent that she didn't need it to look bridal. And looking back, she was so much better without the veil. It just didn't fit her personality.
I opted for the veil because I wanted one. So you should decide what fits you best and go with that.

I wasn't going to do a veil, but when i found my dress they had a veil that matched it perfectly and my best friend bought it for me as a gift from her son, but i'm not doing a blusher

Re: Veil or no veil?
I was leaning towards not wearing one but I decided to go with a bird cage veil instead...something different and not so typical...but I think your idea of the flower or pin will look fantastic!
