this may be a little bit of a weird question but im wondering if anyone can give me some insight.....
so my Mom wore this silly Hat with a Veil attached to it (there are some ridiculous pics of it in my album ).....well anways i want to try and use the veil (or a part of it) for my wedding veil......i think that i want the veil that goes to the fingertips - and i think i want it to be a very full veil that would be worn in the front that has some height, and i know i want a blusher.....well anyway that is what I THINK that i want but of course that could all change depending on the dress I choose......
so here comes the question.......
is it possible to do this? are there people who make custom veils? with the fabric of your choice? my moms veil has hole in it - can that be repaired? can it be whitened? and most of all - would this be really expensive to do????

Re: Veil Question
im sure something can be done. its not out of the ordinary to hear of a custom veil. I think its great to have it incorporated into your veil. Im not sure if they can fix a hole. good luck!

Re: Veil Question
Its very hard to find someone who actually does this type of work. I am going to drive upstate (5 hours) to look at a veil that is how desperate I am at this point since I want something that has to be done custom. I would advice you to go to Barrons ( after I take pics of this veil upstate I am going to barrons to see if they can duplicate it for less $$$) see if they can do it OR go to a bridal shop that does this work. Best bet to call around and ask.

Re: Veil Question
I just looked at the pictures...I don't see why this can't be done. The hole might not be fixable but maby they can turn your mom's veil into your blusher.
I would ask at the stores when you try on dresses one of their seamstresses might be able to do this for you.

Re: Veil Question
thanks guys......even if i just use part of hers for the blusher as suggested that would be more than enough.....i dont need my entire veil to be made out of her fabric......i just think it would be nice to somehow incorporate it into my day - i know mom would love that!

Re: Veil Question
They MAY be able to fix the hole...my moms veil has a hole too and the lady i am brigning it to said she will see if she can patch it...the tuller used then and now are different so it might not match. I am sure you can find someone to make you a veil. Just check places out. I am using my moms....we took her old trim off and are having a new one put on it that matches my dress. It was discolored and we cleaning it up ( thank god for oxiclean!!) i am sure there is someone out there! Why dont you post a thread on the vendor board maybe someone there can help!

Re: Veil Question
There are place in the garment district, that can repair or at least replicate a veil. You can also take the edging off your mom's veil and maybe have it stitched onto a hankie or something that you can carry the day of the wedding. The edge of her veil is so PRETTY! I can try and find the names of some of those stores if you need help. FM me if you want....
