Veil Question: Birdcage Vs. Traditional

Im not sure what to do.... I really like how the birdcage veils look and I love the traditional fingertip tulle veil as well. I am most likely going to wear my hair half up or part up with barrel curls ( I have long hair) Do you think it will look weird to have the birdcage veil worn over long hair? I know typically they are worn over short hair or updo's.
Do you think it would look weird to do the blusher as the birdcage and the back of the veil as a traditonal tulle fingertip veil.

I Dont have a picture of my dress but its fitted through out the mid thigh area then flairs out (mermaid style) the material is duchess satin with lace and pearl beading.

Yeah I know what you mean...It kind of loses the effect when your hair is long...
