I went to barron's today and left more confused then ever about the type of veil I want. I didn't know there are so many options!
So now I am curious...what type (standard, drop, mantilla, center-gathered, etc) of veil did you buy, did you buy it with any detail (edging, lace, etc) and why? I am in desperate need of help!

Re: Veil question - what kind did you have and why??
mine was fingertip and it was made to match my dress. It had champagne satin edging and some beadwork. I didn't want anything to long because I had a corset back. I added on a removable blusher for the ceremony then took that out for the reception.
I was going to remove the entire veil for the reception, but I figured I only get to do this once, so why not?

I was there from about 2:30 until about 3:30 / 4pm. The gentlemen that was helping me was doing too many things at once so it took a long time for me to get my questions answered - and I had a lot of questions! What time were you there?
I was there around that time to get the combs put on my tiara. I think I saw both of you.
HMM!! what were you 2 wearing??! I can't remember the exact time. But it was around 3-4pm!

Thank for all your help. I know the lengths that I want 2-tier elbow/fingertip veil with a detatchable catherdral veil but it's the cut and edging that gets me.
I thought I wanted a standard cut but the guy at barron's showed me a centergathered and I liked that the edging didn't frame my face. But you can't have a single-tier center cut so my cathedral veil would have the edging framing my face anyway.

I was confused about veils too. I went to Macy*s and tried one on that matched my dress perfectly but it wasn't long enough, so now I have to go try to find that exact one but longer or something very similar to it. Is Barron's a good place to go?

I think they're good. there's also another veil booth at Tri County down the same aisle and they're even cheaper. they both have a lot to choose from. Either way, you'll save a lot of $ as compared to a dept. store.

I wanted a veil for the ceremony but not for the reception, and I didnt want to spend a lot of money. I found a single layer (no blusher) cathedral length veil that I really liked at RK Bridal and the salesperson there (Gilda) suggested that I make it myself, rather than pay the $150. Since I am the least crafty person alive I figured I'd go on ebay.
Found a single tier, cathedral length veil for $16.00 - $20 with shipping. Since it's a single layer you can see the cool chignon bun that I'll have going on, and I think it looks great. I may have some sequins or crystals put on the veil as it gets closer - but I'm not sure.
I'd highly recommend ebay.
Which seller did you buy it from?
I purchased it from a seller called rearwindow52. I did a search for cathedral length veils

Re: Veil question - what kind did you have and why??
mantilla cathedral length.
I didn't want anything on the top of my head to POOF. The mantilla lays flat, and the lace edging was very face flattering.
Cathedral becasue it's just so dramatic. I will be taking it off after the ceremony and wearing a flower behind my ear.
eta: Purchased at RK Bridal

I had the cathedral veil because I always wanted to wear one - I just love the way it looks. It then bustled up to between the semi waltz and fingertip length and I kept it on all night - Loved it!!!!

I really wanted a cathedral length train but fell in love with a dress with a chapel length train so I got a cathedral length veil for the ceremony. I wanted to wear a veil all night so I also had a fingertip for the reception.

I had a fingertip veil. One tier was fingertip the other was elbow. It was great and so full which is what I wanted.
Re: Veil question - what kind did you have and why??
My veil looks really similar to nov2004bride's. I got a two tier, fingertip length ivory veil with pearl edging. I wanted my back a little covered, but I didn't want a long veil.
I bought mine from bridesave.com for about $60.

Re: Veil question - what kind did you have and why??
I got 2 veils, a fingertip & a cathedral they both have just edging b/c my dress has alot of beadwork & I didn't want to take away from that. they are both gathered in the middle but aren't poffy. I went to macys & they helped me pick out the lengths. It migth be easier to go to the shop where you bought your dress & have the peopel there help you pick one out & then you can go to barrons & buy the one that is the same as the one the salon shows you. I found it so difficult to try on veils w/o my dress b/c I couldn't get the full effect. JMO. Hope this helps.

Re: Veil question - what kind did you have and why??
Mine is two tier elbow length with a crystal/rhinestone edge....was just the type that looked best with my dress. I am short and didn't want anything to long either. Dress has silver in it so wanted some sort of crystal edging.

Mine is a cathedral length mantilla with lace edging that matches the dress. I haven't decided whether or not I want to also get an elbow length simple veil for the reception. Any suggestions?

Re: Veil question - what kind did you have and why??
I want to have a cathedral length, but take it off for the reception. I tried one on with my dress at the shop and it looked so great, but, I don't want a tiara or anything. Does anyone have suggestions on how to attach it to my head, but be able to take it off without wrecking my hair (my hair will most likely be up). This gives me nightmares!!!! I show up to the reception with a big puff of hair pulled up out of my do.
