Veil question - what kind did you have and why??

Veil question - what kind did you have and why??

I went to barron's today and left more confused then ever about the type of veil I want. I didn't know there are so many options!

So now I am curious...what type (standard, drop, mantilla, center-gathered, etc) of veil did you buy, did you buy it with any detail (edging, lace, etc) and why? I am in desperate need of help!

i am confused about this also. I dont know if i want or should get one my dress laces up the back 'corset' and i dont want too much going on. I think the type of veil you get depends on your dress. Any idea where to get a reasonably priced one? I just looked at your dress. love it! Since you have alot of lace on the dress id go for more of a plain veil, maybe just ribbon edging or piping...but thats just me.

I have a fingertip veil that has a blusher and a detachable cathedral length veil. I have this kind for two reasons - #1, it's my 'something borrowed', and #2, since my wedding is formal, I wanted a cathedral length.

You should look for a veil that compliments your dress. If you have a simple dress, look for a more ornate veil and vice versa. There are so many choices out there and it is very hard to pick. I am glad I didn't have to! I would suggest trying on veils with your dress at your bridal salon. Even if you don't but it there, at least you wil know what length/style looks best.

Good Luck!!

I was there from about 2:30 until about 3:30 / 4pm. The gentlemen that was helping me was doing too many things at once so it took a long time for me to get my questions answered - and I had a lot of questions! What time were you there?

Its a Flea Market type of Place in Levittown (on hempstead tpke).

I had finger tip.... it was my SILs veil, the headpiece matched my dress perfect, so i didnt even have to look for one (i got lucky in this area)

I had a one tier, cathedral length, matilla cut veil with fine embroidred edging & atached by fabric loops.

I am short, so the sales person at the bridal salon said don't go too long, because it will cut you in half, unless you go REALLY long, which I did. I liked thatit was different & alitteldramatic.

Mt dress had embroidrey , so i kept the detail on the dress simple & I went with one tier, b/c I knew I'd be self concious with a lot of puff & no blusher, b/c I didn't feel the need to have my face covered.

'mantila cut' meant that it framed my face like a mantilla, but wasnt'lace edged. I chose that because I troed one on in the bridal store & I liked it. Again, dramatic, in a kinda of simple way.

The fabric loops helped it lay flatter on my head that a comb would--my hairstylist sugested it. I also had a low headpiece, so the comb showed too much.

Hope this helps. Good luck!

I have a Royal cathedral (136') with a fingertip length blusher. The cathedral veil is detachable. The beauty of my dress is in the back, but it has a short (sweep) train so I wanted something lobg to give me the train. No edging, but it has rhinestones scattered on the back of the cathedral veil and on the bottom of the fingtertop.

I wanted a veil for the ceremony but not for the reception, and I didnt want to spend a lot of money. I found a single layer (no blusher) cathedral length veil that I really liked at RK Bridal and the salesperson there (Gilda) suggested that I make it myself, rather than pay the $150. Since I am the least crafty person alive I figured I'd go on ebay.

Found a single tier, cathedral length veil for $16.00 - $20 with shipping. Since it's a single layer you can see the cool chignon bun that I'll have going on, and I think it looks great. I may have some sequins or crystals put on the veil as it gets closer - but I'm not sure.

I'd highly recommend ebay.

Which seller did you buy it from?

I had a cathedral and a fingertip that I wore as my blusher with rhinestones all over it. I got them from Barrons. It was an excellent choice. The reason why I went with a cathedral is because I figured why not? I wanted to look as grand as possible - you only get to do it once!

I bought the elbow length one i didnt really want to wear one, but my mother and FH mother wanted me to, so i compromised and got a short one, it was the better choice since i do not have a train on my dress.

Barrons is great if you know what you want. You can tell them how you want it to look and they deliver.

But if you are not into designing it yourself or if you are undecided, you might want to shop at places that have them ready made so that you can get a feel for the look you want. barrons does have that but I found it easier to try on a bunch at a wedding salon.

i had a plain shoulder length veil.. nothin to it. i chose it because i wanted a low maintenance veil. my gal pal who had a cathedral veil and took photos outside had to fix to her veil a lot due to the wind blowing it. if i had that same veil i would've had a worse time maintaining it because i had my wedding on a bridge where it was super windy for a veil.

I was there around that time to get the combs put on my tiara. I think I saw both of you.

I am getting a fingertip length veil and will be taking it off. If I could get away with no veil or not covering my face at all, I would but because of my faith I have to cover my face for the ceremony - it is a biblical ritual. Also the back of my dress is too showy to have any of it covered all night. Veils annoy me.
