veil questions

How do you know what veil goes with your dress if you buy them seprately ? I need to buy one soon but I keep looking around and I can't picture what it will look like. Are there any places you can return it if it doesn't look good with your dress.
Also, are you supposed to have a hair trial first then buy the veil depending on what your hair looks like or the other way around?
One more question... at the stores they keep asking me what kind of white my dress is, it's just white, am I supposed to know what kind of white? How do I find out. I bought it in a store in Georgia.

I would pick the style veil then do the hair tria. Try calling the place you ordered your dress for a piece of the dress - believe it or not there are many many 'whites' and you will want it to match best it can. Usually you cannot return veils.

Good Luck!

AHHH ok. Best way to decide which 'white ' your dress is, is to call the manufactrer because fabric plays a HUGE part in color. Most silk gowns are an off wite color. There are some pure white silk, but I believe it goes through a different process because traditionally, most silk gowns were an eggshell color-what silk came in.

I ordered a free swatch sample sheet from veilshop.com. It has pretty much every color bridal illusion tulle on the market including pure white, diamond white, ligth ivory, and dark ivory. It REALLY helped because I put them against my gown and found the one most like my dress, then carried that with me when I went veil shopping since I also brought mine seperately.
