So I always pictured myself walking down the aisle, and as my dad gives me away to FH he lifts up my blusher and sends me on my way. Problem - I tried on blushers with every style of veil and felt they all looked very '1980's'. I originally wanted a cathedral length mantilla veil, but I really don't want to spend $400 on something I'm going to wear for an hour. Now I'm really into the whole bird cage veil but there's nothing to lift up when my dad gives me away.
Is anyone else not using a blusher? I just want to make sure it's not weird if I don't.

Re: VEILS
How about something like this, these look like bird cage veils that are a little longer and can be lifted over your head
my cousin didn't. personally I have that same vision as you & I will def be wearing one. I haven't got my dress yet so I haven't tried any on yet.

I'm not sure which one I will be wearing but I also definitely want a blusher so my father can lift it over when we arrive at the altar. I like the cathedral length too but I didn't realize they cost that much - OUCH!!

Re: VEILS
I'm having an issue with my veil too! I always pictured myself in a mantilla veil. Below is my dress and I'm adding lace cap sleeves to it. So I'm worried that the lace around my face and the lace sleeves would be too much. So I may do a veil like this. So my dad can still lift the veil and the lace would be only at the bottom. This type of veil may be an option for you because it has an effect of a blusher.
I am using a blusher. I want the look of walking down the aisle with my face covered and my dad pulling it back. Once I take my seat, I am going to remove the blusher and just have my veil on. This is an easy fix since it has velcro. It will be a hassle for my MOH to get the blusher just right and I want to see more of my expensive veil and the back of my dress.

I'm not doing a blusher. Never really pictured myself in it.

I'm not doing a blusher. The whole thing kind of skeeves me for some reason. I think it's okay when other people want to do it, but I'm kind of a 'tender moment phobe' when it comes to anything with my parents.

I'm not doing a blusher. I'm going for a single tier cathedral length veil with beading at the bottom. I agree with what you said about the veils with blushers looking a little dated, at least I felt the same way when I tried them on in the store. The blusher gave a little more volume to the veil than I was picturing.

I never liked the idea of a blusher, for some reason I instantly get claustrophobic when I think about it.

I am not doing a blusher. I chose a veil with minimal beading.
Also, FYI. I typed in 'veils' at the Bed, Bath, and Beyond website and they actually have a few! The prices aren't that bad either. I just don't know if you can use the 20% BBB coupon but it's worth a try!

I am not sure if I will be doing a blusher or not, I guess I will figure that out when I go dress shopping. A bird cage veil would look gorgeous though, I love those.

I won't be using a blusher, it makes me feel claustrophobic and I want a clear vision of my love when I walk down that aisle.

I'm not sure if I'm doing a blusher or not, I guess it depends on the dress I pick.
