So I drove about 1.5 hours each way into Long Island from manhattan to have a hair trial yesterday & paid $100 & had to rent a car. While I was generally happy with her work - I wanted to see the pictures and mull it over (and possibly try another hairstylist THIS week.) well at the end of the trial - I was told by this woman that she wanted a commitment by the end of TODAY. She did not email me the pictures until today at which point I told her that I was very busy at work and would have an answer for her by the end of this week.
She then emails me to say that another bride was in touch with her and was ready to book w/o a trial and it was unfair to her that I wasn't ready to make a decision!
Am I crazy to ask for 5 days to make a decision?? Had I known that a decision was required that evening - I would never have driven all the way out there (weekends are a precious commodity) as I know i would NEVER make a decision that quickly!
Am I overreacting?

Re: vendor advice.
thats bizarre. maybe she's just trying to create some fake demand to try and get an answer from you sooner, but honestly, i dont know how soon i'd book with her, unless the trial was amazing.

Re: vendor advice.
Wow...pls don't book with her...she is obviously desperate for business (wonder why??!!) and trying to bully you into a commitment. At every trial I had, I was told they would save the date for me for 7 days, no pressure. Which means that they won't do any trials for anyone else for that date until the 7 days has passed....IMHO anyone who has to pressure you into booking with her is not a true professional....there are so many great makeup and hair stylists on here, don't worry you will find someone else perfect for you

I wouldn't book with her. She seems too pushy and desparate. There are so many talented MUA out there. Shop around. You have some time till your wedding.

I am guessing there is no other bride and she is just trying to push you into making a decision. I dont like that. That would not make me book with her, just the opposite. I would tell her ok, book the other one, I will find someone else. I dont like pushy people.

Re: vendor advice.
Yea I would tell her forget it then go book with your other imaginary bride because your not going to force me into a decision within 1day. Thats BS!
I had 1 trial where the MUA tried to do the same thing to me! O ya know around that time I have a lot of fashion shoots so I would need $50 from you RIGHT NOW to hold that date open for you. I was like ya know what dont hold the day Im not happy with the MU or the way you treated me anyway! SO RUDE!!!!!!
And I went on 2 other trials since then and BOTH times I had AT LEASTTTTTT 7 days! One woman gave me 2 weeks! They did not push me or anything.
And even the woman I booked with, I booked her on the spot because I fell in love and I know how amazing her work is and how awesome her reviews always are, she was pushing me to think about it! She was like are you sure? I dont EVER make anyone do anything on the spot. And I told her I loved her work and I was VERY happy and comfortable and trusted her for my day!
So there are TOO many artists out there that can do a GREAT job and you dont have to put up with that type of treatment. Would you go to someone in Manhattan? My friend got married in Manhattan and had an AMAZINGGGGG artist and I believe she travels. FM me if you want the info. And my artist is in LI and travels, she gets booked quickly but shes INSANELY good. NEVER got a bad review EVER!!!!!! FM me again if you want her info 2 I will give it to you =)))))

ITA...they should give you 7 days...or AT LEAST 5 days. She seems too desperate for business.

Re: vendor advice.
Sounds like she is trying to bully you into booking. Like a used car sales man. I wouldn't book with her just because of the way she is acting. Screw her.

Re: vendor advice.
This is ridiculous. She should never have asked for a decision at all before she at least sent pictures, and she should have given you a few days after getting the pictures to book. Anyone who pressures you like this (and I agree, I think the other bride is fake) is not worth using.
What about using a hair person from the city? they wouldn't have to travel that far out to the Garden City Hotel. M hair person was from the city (Stacy Pitt) and my makeup person I believe had to travel from NJ (Sally Duvall) and I was out in Suffolk County and both traveled the day of and were on time.

Re: vendor advice.
Usually you have 1 week to give your answer. I don't think it's unreasonable for your artist to ask the other bride to wait a week. If this artist is pressuring you, then maybe I'd just keep looking? I wouldn't want you to feel uncomfortable on your wedding day b/c of any weird feelings b/w you and your mu artist...
