Okay, big problem.... My reception hall charges the full price for vendors meals, which means somewheres around 260 with tax a head for my vendors.... Obviously, I want to feed my vendors but I have 16 to feed!!! Ahhh! That is so much money. I suggested to someone today to cater them pizzas and italian platters of salads and ziti or lasagna or something, but my friend said that was insulting. The difference in price is significant obviously $200 vs. $4000... What is the right thing to do? Will the vendors understand? Or does this look obnoxious? After all, they are working that night... They are not guests, but I don't want to be mean. And they will get tipped, obviously. What should I do???

I read your vendor post and agree with Dennis from Doctor Dance. It would probably be a treat to have some different food.
Good luck

Totally agree that you have to call the place again - my place is only charging me $50 for vendors vs. $150 for guests. The largest part of the expense for the place is alcohol - and you vendors will not be drinking - so they need to do something for you.

I've never heard of a hall that does not do 1/2 price for vendors. I mean they are not drinking!
I would check with the hall. They may not let you bring in any other food.

That is ridiculous! I am serving Surf and Turf and was not going to pay the per person cost to serve my vendors Surf and Turf. As you said, they are working, not guests.
My caterer also wanted to charge me full price but we worked it out that the vendors may eat the cocktail hour food at no charge! I am having a pasta station, raw bar and passing h'oderves so that should be plenty. Maybe you can just tell your vendors to eat at the cocktail hour? How would the caterer even know in that case. They usually don't monitor who is eating at the cocktail hour.
Good luck!

Thank you all so much for your responses. I really appreciate the outpouring and support here on this question. Means a lot
Update: I called the club and they confirmed full price. I asked if we could cater in food for the vendors and they said yes, soooo I called some of my vendors and asked if they would be offended and explained the situation. While they were horrified at the clubs policy, they were completely sweet to me and said it would be okay. sooo, salads, ziti and pizzas it is. Sweet vendors!!!

I would also talk to the band. If I played in a band, I would rather bring a sandwich & have $200 as a tip than for a meal that I shoved down my throat in a hurry.
