Vendor meals-sandwiches or full meal?

Vendor meals-sandwiches or full meal?

Our hall gives us a choice of a discounted full meal for each of our vendors or sandwhiches for $20 a pop.

What should we do? The meals would end up at about $400 versus about $80 for sandwiches. I don't really mind the money that much I just really don't know how they would sit down and eat a whole meal so maybe the sandwiches would just be easier? Thoughts?

ETA: Of course I am going to give them meals. This is a practicality issue not an economical one.

Well from what I am hearing you have to feed them and some put it in contract and if they don't I hear they can opt for a bigger tip? WOW ok? Ummm I really do not think we should have to pay so much $ for them it isn't right. I would go with sandwhiches. I am sure that since hall suggested it they have done it before. Ask if they got any bad responses from it?

can you ask your vendors which they would prefer... some fill up at the cocktai lhour and barely eat anyway...

They expect meals, so I would give them that. You don't want them to get mad and suddenly do a bad job. That's what I was told, so I gave full meals to all my vendors.

I would suggest speaking to the vendors. Some of my vendors told us that we did not have to provide them with a meal unless we wanted to. They just requested that we tell them in advance so that they can make their own arrangements.

we fed our vendors complete meals...If the money is not an issue, I would think the vendors would much rather a meal then sandwiches

I would definitely ask them what they would prefer. I have heard that they actually don't like having these huge emals all the time, so maybe they would be happy with a sandwich.

Also...a $20 sandwich! I thought manhattan delis were bad!

I paid $50 for vendors my hall didn't recommend and $25 it they did

for full meals

If money isn't the issue-do the full meals.

Honestly though, they probably don't have time for full meals anyway. I would ask your vendors.

You can't go wrong with asking them. Some vendors have even told me that they wouldn't be eating because they would be working (you can definitely order sandwiches for vendors like that).

I'd go with the sandwiches. These vendors go to weddings every weekend- probably two a weekend. I bet they'd welcome something that isn't wedding food.

I think it would be nice to give them the option.....personally, i would want the nice meal if i was a vendor.

how much are the plates for the other guests??? usually vendors are half price....wow. i've always seen them get the whole meal as well and they could feel insulted by their BLT. (lol....could you imagine if you paid $20/ea for BLTs and a coke?!?!)

i'd go with the meal, they kind of expect it a little(....and since it isn't a $$ issue)
