Vendor Questions

Vendor Questions

I need some honest opinions from you girls cause I'm sitting here trying to figure this out. I have been planning this whole wedding from FL and was on LI last month to look at a few rh's and vendors. Everyone I met with took notes on what we discussed and I came home, discussed everything with fh and we made a decision. Fast foward to getting the contracts in the mail from vendors.. one of the vendors messed everything on the contract up, certain things weren't what they were supposed to be and even though I talked to the vendor and they assured me it would be corrected, I'm starting to freak out because I will not be there to micromanage and I don't want a huge disaster on my hands if there are more 'mistakes'. I guess my ? is would you look for another vendor or deal with it???

Maybe try emailing or faxing them what you discussed. Get everything in writing!

Re: Vendor Questions

Just like in business, before you decide to go with another vendor, make a phone call to clarify what needs to be changed in the contract, follow it up in writing. Rather than an e-mail, I would do the old fashioned way by letter, sent by registered mail and return receipt.
Proof is then in your hand.

If the phone conversation does not come out to your liking, or the vendor balks at making changes, then start looking for a new vendor.
Remember, until you sign the contract, nothing is binding.

It is your event that you are planning, and communication is the key to everything running smoothly.

That happened to me when i first got my contract from the RH also....i called them and had them revise the contract it was no issue at all. But believe me i know how frustrating it can be. Good Luck!!

i second the idea of getting everything in writing!!!

Thank you for your thoughts, I have everything in writing so far but I'm still worried and can't seem to get past it, things would be so much easier if I could move back to LI for the next few months.

Don't worry about it. Start with a phone call and take it from there.

I do it in business all the time. Very rarely do I meet my vendors, but we communicate by phone, e-mail and letter.

I dont like vendors that do that - i loose my trust in them. Even if its a mistake - i feel like they are careless and will mess up other stuff when it comes to my day. I have to say that my choice to go with vendors definately is weighed by thier attention to detail.

That's exactly how I have been feeling about this whole situation and maybe more so because I won't be there to make sure things are progressing like they should be.

Re: Vendor Questions

The day of the wedding the vendors look at the contract. If something is not written there, they wont' remember it. Make sure you have everything written in the contract.
