I had a makeup and hair trial today at 5 pm. I live and work in NYC and came home early just for this. I called at 6 pm and this woman sounded frazzled and she 'didn't realize it was 6 pm already.' She then calls me 40 minutes later to tell me she needs to cancel!!!!!! I've been waiting here for nothing! I'm so mad!!!!!! Now, I don't even trust this woman to do my hair and makeup for the day of my wedding. She has a wedding before mine and she claims that she will be at my hotel in time to do my makeup and hair for my 3 pm ceremony. What would you ladies do? Forget her and move on???

Re: Vendor Rant
Move on for sure. I am meeting with people within this next week. If I find good people I will pass on the information. Go with your gut!

forget her & move on. you need someone who is reliable
btw can u send me an FM about who it is... still searching for hair & makeup myself & want to avoid this person like the plague!!
I agree with this. You want to make your wedding day as stress free as possible. Booking a vendor you are not comfortable with is not the way to go. There are tons of people out there.
I also am looking for a hair and make-up person and would really appreciate knowing who the one that flaked on you is so that I can avoid booking her.
Sorry she left you hanging!

What if she does this on your wedding day?

Re: Vendor Rant
Don't even consider her...even if it was a one time thing, you would be worrying about this for months....so not worth it.

Re: Vendor Rant
That would make me extremely uncomfortable. I say to move on, as you definitely don't need a repetition of this on your wedding day. That's so unprofessional

Re: Vendor Rant
You should definitley forget her. There are other hair and makeup people out there who are more responsible and probably just as good. You don't need extra anxiety on your big day. Would you mine FM me her name. TIA!

Re: Vendor Rant
Hey Ladies,
Thanks for all the advice!!! I actually posted this a few weeks ago and since then I've learned a few things. 1. the same exact vendor who stood me up, stood up another bride for her trial. 2. I learned that there are SO many vendors out there. Some that aren't even mentioned on LIW. I have a trial booked with these two wonderful girls I met at Priscilla of Boston in Roslyn. They are amazing and did the wedding makeup and hair in the recent Long island Newsday wedding issue. (They did the makeover for the cast of Tony & Tina's wedding.)
Planning a wedding, there are lots of speed bumps and it's definitely not easy!! But at the same time, it's fun. I'm glad I found out now about this particular vendor rather than on my wedding day!!

Re: Vendor Rant
I think you should move onto someone else. Who needs the undue stress on the day of, right?
